Must haves

Alright, so I just got back into the fishing game last fall (after about an 8 year hiatus), pulled all my old tackle out and chunked the really bad and refurbished what I could. Some of the stuff that looked ok is not just because of the age (actually ripped the heads off of 2 different crankbaits that got hung up). So the big question is this...on about a $50 budget what are your "must haves" in the tackle box?

Salty 05-24-2009 01:09 AM

1- Bomber Long "A"
1- Corky
1- Super Spook
1- pkg. Norton Sand Eels
1- pkg. 1/4 oz. jigheads
1- 300 yd. Power Pro

There goes that $50.

After 8 years, I'd probably consider replacing the Power Pro....the moths may have gotten into it..!!

fool, before you get that tacklebox, check with Cabela's, I picked up 2 of them about a month ago for $9 a piece.

Good luck finding the Glow / char Sand eels js. In the last 6 months, every trip there they have been out of them.

I was looking for a new tackle bag a couple of months ago. I went back and forth as to what to get. I finally decided to go with the big H2S Express, thinking this would give me a little "extra" room to add some more baits.

When I finished putting everthing in, I was looking for more room the fit it all in there.......every compartment in the plastic trays is filled, some with 2 lures.

Recommend you go bigger than what you think you need. My bag cost $ 55, I think.

huntin fool 05-24-2009 11:30 AM

i just came back, i bought different colors of sandeels. the only color they had that i had on my list was opening night.

i got a 24. tackle box (good enuf for now)

academy is starting to make me mad

Gents, I don't know if you all have noticed what I have been knowing for years, an outdoorsman will help a fellow outdoorsman. Thanks for giving me a little more hope for our world of self centered people.

thanks to everyone who has ever helped me.

Gerald 05-24-2009 07:22 PM

I would also have a 3/4 oz gold spoon and a couple of spinner baits with large gold spoons....the type that you can change to different type jig heads.

These are good for Red's and Trout. Look at the picture of my tackle box.....I have a plastic tray just for these type baits.

J.D.L 05-24-2009 09:50 PM

Black/Chart. Spook Jr. and Opening Night Cocahoe minnows

What's all the fuss about "new Penny Gulp" about? I've never fished big lake and have been inquiring about it real soon. Everyone I talk to says to use this bait... What gives?

Rev, don't waste your time. You gotta use Norton eels.

Reverend Redfish 05-24-2009 10:48 PM

That's what i use in Cocodrie. It works mighty fine.

Thank You

LaAngler 05-24-2009 10:48 PM

myth

for trout plastic works better

for reds and flounder the gulp is good, but swimming mullets work just as good and come 12 to a pack vs. 6 shrimp
