Wow..... Cool looking bird.

barbarian 02-01-2014 06:10 PM

Love to see a pic of the breast area. I have never seen or heard of this mix before.

MarshRat89 02-01-2014 06:55 PM

Why you say mix?

Pretty cool would of loved to see that. Without seeing the breast it looks like just a blue.

What do you mean when u say specks on the belly? Did it have the black bars on its belly, or white splotches? Leucism is common in waterfowl (lack of pigment) so curious if it had the dark splotches like a speck. Can you show us a pic of the breast??

Top Dawg 02-01-2014 08:57 PM

It had dark specks like a speck. No picks of the chest dropped him off to my taxidermist. He said he's only seen a couple but he confirmed.

MarshRat89 02-01-2014 09:28 PM

Who you getting to mount it?

My uncle does taxidermy work. And I get a lot of work done at marshland taxidermy.

biggun 02-02-2014 10:55 AM

I thinking Immature (Juevinle) Blue Goose..

Top Dawg 02-02-2014 11:39 AM

Why y'all mad?

Clampy 02-02-2014 11:56 AM

Aren't snows and blues the same bird just different stages of life. Start out blue then turn white ? Serious question.

That's what I always thought.

Not all of them. A grown up blue is an eagle head. Some blues turn white.

bjhooper82 02-02-2014 12:08 PM

I'm not not and I hope your right but it looks like a young blue to me also. I wish you had a few more pics.

Top Dawg 02-02-2014 12:10 PM

Biologist buddy said it looks like a hybrid but he is goin by today to look at it.

"W" 02-02-2014 12:11 PM

Looks like a real young blue

No pic? Of the bars??

Top Dawg 02-02-2014 12:20 PM

Didn't get a good pic of the bars. U can kinda see one of the bars on the edge of his belly in the pic. He has about 4 more big bars on his belly.

Even though it don't turn white and stays blue it is still a snow goose. Just like a black lab and yella lab and a chocolate lab. All same breed, just different colors.

Duh

T-TOP 02-02-2014 01:18 PM

I've seen a cross before and it's head was speckled like that. It does look like the beginning of a bar on it top right side of the breast.

MarshRat89 02-02-2014 02:23 PM

The color of the neck resembles a spec also.

Fishdok 02-02-2014 09:29 PM

It's a blue

Fishdok 02-02-2014 09:29 PM

It's still a blue

bgizzle 02-02-2014 10:07 PM

Not mad! I think it's a young blue. Looks like one I killed a few yrs ago. But I'm sure it's possible. Odds are against it tho I believe.

Specs hate snows n blues !!! Lol jk

U mad bro?

Bluechip 02-02-2014 11:47 PM

Who gives a damn what everyone thinks it is..... The gentleman is confident that it's a hybrid, so congratulate on his kill and quit picking apart his report.

If you have positive comments to add from here on out, we thank you. If not, keep your opinions to yourself.

We founded this site on not allowing bashing and opinionated comments on any hunting and fishing reports.....looks like it may be time to start swinging the hammer.

I know hunting season is winding down and everyone is getting cabin fever but chill out and be happy for his kill.

Thanks....

Top Dawg 02-02-2014 11:53 PM

Thanks bluechip

aquaholic 02-03-2014 12:30 AM

Awesome kill. Look forward to pics after tax work. Congrats onanawesome kill. Keep posting !! Thanks for posting you're kill shots.

gckid 02-03-2014 06:28 AM

I killed a speck/snow cross about 10 years ago. mostly white with speck face and bill but brown mottle throughout. Had it mounted but lost it when my house burnt.

cgoods17 02-03-2014 10:33 AM

Now we cant have an opinion?

Well my opinion is that it does look like a young blue, BUT, it does look to have some brown on the neck and chest area.. Definitely a weird looking bird. But whatever it is, it is ugly as C H I T!

jpeff31787 02-03-2014 02:55 PM

that's pretty sweet man!

huntin fool 02-03-2014 03:53 PM

I don't know why you would shoot that. You black hoody, face paint wearin ,hybrid young blue goose shooting SOB.

Anyways, definitely a strange one whatever it is. Congrats bud

Fishdok 02-03-2014 04:25 PM

not mad but if i thought i shot something odd and it wasnt odd at all I would want to know.. Such a rare kill hybrid I would have a few pics is all. The pic on here looks like a regular ol blue

barbarian 02-03-2014 07:05 PM

Did you have to leave a deposit at the taxidermist? I would check and see if it is refundable.

Any chance this is more about fishing instead of hunting? ;)

Blue Goose

Mr T 02-20-2014 12:27 PM

no on the Blues-SNows question. 'Blue' Geese are a color phase of Snow Goose. Same Species, different color phases. They do not change color during their life, nor is one older than the other etc. THey used to be considered 2 different species, now considered one species.

Aka - hybrid

Mr T 02-24-2014 12:07 PM

negative it is not a hybrid. It is not between plumages etc.
Once a blue always a blue, once a snow always a snow. Just different color phases of the same bird, not different plumages based on age etc. Technically there is a difference, good questions though.
