First tournament?

Does anyone know when the first tournament is scheduled for big lake? Also, is there a good website that keeps up with ALL tournaments in big lake area throughout the year?

My son is interested in doing a few tournaments. I've tried to convince him that tournaments should be about having a good time rather than weighing in the best fish. (He's competitive and does not like to lose.) The Salty Cajun tournament in August has a nice festival atmosphere. When other tournaments are discussed, it would be nice to know which other ones have a great atmosphere, as I doubt we'll be winning anything.

Sabine has couple MG you can fish SABINE or BL. Memorial Day weekend S.A.L.T. TOURN. weigh in pleasure island and COPS for KIDS late summer not sure on dates weigh in **** Dowlen Park Sabine Pass. They are both good fun family atmosphere. Might be to far, but you can put in at causeway bridge at state line HWY 87 and fish and weigh in by water. Weigh-ins on both can be done while fishing buy boat or vehicle.

Sounds good

ThePinkBanana 02-04-2014 12:50 AM

There should be a tournament page on here that lists them all. Please correct me if there already is. I would be game for a spring tournament, 2 man teams, biggest stringer of 4 trout. $150-$200 entry fee.

There is a lady on 2coolfishing who is posting a spreadsheet on 2014 fishing tournaments. Do a search and it's there. There are a couple listed on Calcasieu. You can also send her info and she will add to the spreadsheet.

Here is the link to the Spreadsheet. If you have a Tournament to add please PM Bubbaette on 2cool and she will add it to the Spreadsheet.

When is the SALTY CAJUN Tournament Scheduled for?

mstulb 02-05-2014 09:49 PM

I would definitely fish it before June, don't like fishing live bait, bottom fishing trout tourneys in August..?

First one was in March and by far biggest turnout I have seen. IMO

BassYakR 02-06-2014 09:01 AM

an april or may tourney would be awesome! Id also like to see a Salty redfish tourney soon!

Bdub 02-06-2014 12:48 PM

I'm ready to get on a couple tourneys too, Nate I'll pull your boat behind mine and let you potlick me.
