jchief 11-14-2009 11:01 AM

Did not go, son did not show, but everyone is saying what you are. Great fishin weather, need some wind for the ducks to move though

huntin fool 11-14-2009 11:07 AM

i dont think its cold enough yet....i had 2 woodies buzz my pond while i put out my deeks...i'll be in Jordan's neck of the woods tomorrow at our ponds shooting woodies

geauxtigers 11-14-2009 11:28 AM

22 teal, black mallard, and wiegin this morning...........bunch a birds on this end......mostly teal

meaux fishing 11-14-2009 11:40 AM

let me just tell you saw a bunch of teal and a few big ducks south of abbeville....if my friends brother had not been late and we had got in the blind 15 minutes before shooting time instead of 20 minutes after:pissed: we prolly would have done alright....ended up with 3 teal...should have gone fishing

homerun 11-14-2009 11:55 AM

big pasture--- 3 man limit 9 teal,7 greys,1 pintail,and 1 blacky :smokin:

Deadly D 11-14-2009 12:24 PM

We had a good hunt this morning 24 ducks and 1 speck.most were teal. We had 1 greenhead ,2 mottles 1 gray, 2 ringnecks and the rest teal.

all star rod 11-14-2009 12:39 PM

Hunted our lease in Kaplan with one of my uncles buddies.....we had 7 teal. There were a lot of birds (teal) but when you have a tractor broken down 15 yards from your blind it cannot help. Nothing wanted to decoy or even pass close to the deks. All the birds we shot were medium height passing shots. Hopefully, the tractor will be pulled out today.

Hopedale Hustler 11-14-2009 12:50 PM

it started very slow...very little wind...killed 4 teal early and had to wait it out for our other 6 ducks..but we did end up with 2 red heads...2 ring necks...a mottle duck and a spoonie...so not to bad just slow..it'll pick up as the weather improves...

all star rod 11-14-2009 12:59 PM

I had a feeling opening SAT of duck season it would be ZERO wind!!!!!:cry:

LSUh20fowler 11-14-2009 02:33 PM

Heard a good bit of shooting down here around the Gibbstown bridge. But naturally, I was working instead of hunting.

jchief 11-14-2009 02:34 PM

Johnson Bayou

Any of you guys hunting in Johnson Bayou area? that is where our blind is at. Lookin for a report of numbers if you willing

The Shep 11-14-2009 02:39 PM

we did real good here in gueydan/ klondike area....22 teal an 2 grey ducks

huntin fool 11-14-2009 03:03 PM

i wish it'd been 40 degrees, 15 mph north wind, misting/drizziling, ducks flying like no tomorrow!

all star rod 11-14-2009 03:07 PM

When I hunt the rice fields I love it to be windy, front moving thru and some rain. When I hunt in the marsh I like 10 mph north wind and a sunny blue bird day!

I like huntin in the fog myself. You're right about the clear day with the north wind in the marsh. Nothing like it.

Ray 11-14-2009 03:42 PM

I like it when it is foggy till around 8 am, then it burns off.
It's like they open the gates and let all the ducks out at the same time...

:shaking:

Ray 11-14-2009 03:43 PM

But there is nothing better than cold, windy with low clouds. YOu can hear them before you see them. Makes me get goose bumps.

Ray 11-14-2009 03:44 PM

Blue bird days, I went fishing offshore.
Before the Snapper season, you can catch some nice Snapper close in during the winter.

I have been hunting there since i was 8 years old..... And I have NEVER came out of there without a 2 man limit of ducks... I think i only seen once or twice when someone came out with just a duck or two shy.. Not to mention, the first class luxury of this place...

Na... still got the 9.9 yamma-hammas.... We just added another flat to our fleet of flat bottoms, and one has a prodrive...

huntin fool 11-15-2009 12:53 PM

this cold front will bring some more ducks...im tired of this hot weather!

Red Devil 11-15-2009 01:29 PM

Got the crawfish pond all to myself for the next three days. It hadn't been hunted yet, so I should at least get a limit of teal and maybe a speck or two. We'll see in the am.

Shawn Braquet 11-16-2009 02:55 PM

Hunted off the sabine river in vinton and only shot 1 saturday and 5 sunday with 3 hunters, sunday I brought my dog for the first time in the blind he picked up 3 of 5 other 2 glided 75 yards out and were blind retrieves, he went as far as decoys and turned around so back to the field for more training, I only shot twice sunday because i was trying to make the hunt as easy as possible for the dog. Heard from my buddy that they only killed 2 at our johnsons bayou lease saturday but no report on sunday.

sorry for being late guys, but here's the pic from my opener in Chauvin.

9 blue wings. 2 greenies. 3 grays. 4 gallinules and 1 white beaked coot.

That's 14 ducks, sorry for shooting 2 over the limit but we were stuck at 10 and a flock of 6 teal game in, we shot and knocked down four. Good shooters can't help it sometimes. :p

yak'em-n-stack'em 11-17-2009 12:30 AM
