Well wish me luck Salty Cajun,

I am headed to Lafayette General on Tuesday for gastric bypass surgery.

Hopefully after i lose all the weight i need to, i will be more likely to come fish big lake........ My boat wont draft quite as much after. :)

If your interested in knowing how i am doing with this feel free to check in on the Blog i created to document the process and how it will effect my life.

Good luck. My mom had it in September and she is dropping the pounds. She had a minor hiccup last week. They had to remove her gallbladder. But all is well.

jchief 03-09-2014 09:04 AM

Good luck

keakar 03-15-2014 12:21 PM

good luck, my friend and his wife just both had it done and she lost 75 lbs. and he has lost over 100 lbs. in just 4 months.

he said it takes a lot of getting used to because your brain thinks differently from what your body needs but he says things are starting to normalize

I am definetly realizing this. It's 4 days post surgery, and i have started eating just a little bit again and i have to force myself to eat anything. Not hungry at all ever.

Been pretty nice hanging out on the porch the last few days.. :) but i remember that windy day.. was crazy.

Talked to a couple friends, the bass bite is starting to pick up on vernon. I hope to get out there in a couple days.. starting to feel pretty good.

Lookin good! That brown blazer is a bit more roomy now, how awesome is it to feel AND see progress?

My change and weight loss was minor compared to yours, but the habits were difficult to change none the less. It was so hard to change the way I ate, and make the necessary time for exercise. Now, I guess it all became routine like you said in your blog - I can't imagine going back to those ways, and am actually doing more active things in addition to the workouts I had so many excuses to skip in the beginning, and "never" had time for.

Keep it up, and keep the blog posts coming - they are motivating!

duckman1911 05-04-2014 01:39 PM

Bro you have made a boat load of progress. You look good buddy and I know you're feeling good. Had a great day on the beach with you and your lil man. Cant wait till next time brother. :)

Thanks Goooh... appreciate the feedback... To me the whole point of going the surgery route was to give me a huge jump start and then finish the race through exercise... (let me be honest at 327 lbs i wasn't able to exercise much of nothing but my mouth)

It's always best if you can do these types of things yourself...
Kudos to you for recognizing how important good health is to you long term and doing something about it.... rather than wait till things got drastic like i did.

Surgery was really my last option... most of my adult life i was able to hang out in the 210-240 range... which for someone 5'9" isnt skinny.. but is still "reasonable".... Once i had diabetes and had to start taking insulin... I just could not control my weight anymore.

Thank you my friend! I appreciate it.. There was a good bit less of me than there was on the last fishing trip we went on.. :)

Thanks for putting my boy on that fish, he done told 2 people today about it!

You got a great family Duck... good peeps all!!

duckman1911 05-05-2014 10:57 AM

jchief 05-10-2014 02:43 PM

Doing better than me.

I had gastric sleeve surgery on April 1. Started at 308. As of today I am at 271. Actually like the slower weight loss. Feeling better. Have more energy. Now if I can just get my damn hip to quit hurting.

AceArcher 05-13-2014 09:00 PM

Man today started off great, spent the morning at a training session working on getting into federal employment... that went great. Then spent some good time with the kids, running around doing errands etc... Then all of a sudden had to deal with some nonsense and gave me a bad attitude... Was almost so pissed off that i seriously thought about skipping the workout tonight...

But i'm glad that i persevered and did the workout anyway... seems to have gotten the piss and vinegar right outa me... :)

keakar 05-17-2014 10:38 PM

my friend and his wife both had it done at the end of march. he was 420 lbs. and now he is down to 260 lbs. and said the wife is losing a little less then him each week but both are at a steady pace.

AceArcher 05-17-2014 11:02 PM

wow you friend is losing weight crazy fast. i was 327 and am down to the high 270's averaging 3 lbs lost per week. my surgery was on march 11th.

from what i understand i am loosing right at the normal pace..

AceArcher 06-08-2014 02:06 PM

Well with vacations and honey-do lists out of the way finally got around to putting out an update.
