I got a lemon!!

What do I do? we have a 2011 durango with hemi. 35000 miles.

It has been shutting off randomly while driving!! I 49 while exiting, coming to a stop at lights, backing out of the driving way etc.

Its Shutting off like some one just pulled the plug no power.

This had happened at least 15 times. Brought it in to acadiana dodge they changed the computer. But its still happening.

No engine codes are showing up when they check it. They are clue less and Cant find the problem.

im not trading it in bc in bc that will put me upside down going in to the nx vehicle.

This will be the second time going In for the same problem so arbitration isnt an option yet....

Advise

They have a guy in that link that you send the part to and he will fix it for cheaper and quicker than dodge.

Goooh 04-11-2014 06:05 PM

And, don't drive a dodge unless someone gives it to you...

AubreyLaHaye458 04-11-2014 06:06 PM

Put a match in the gas tank.

It helps. If not the first one then definitely make sure the second one is lit.

We just went through the same thing with a 2013 Nissan pathfinder. 12 months old & been in the shop 9 times. You can contact Dodge corporate & have them review your case & offer you a buy back price. You can also do the same with your local dealership. We were upside down, but the dealership offered to pay our loan off if we bought another vehicle from them. We decided not to, but went to the Toyota dealership with the buy back offer in hand & was able to negotiate a better trade in offer with them & picked up a 4runner 2 nights ago.

I got a lemon!!

Damn Alpha I got the same problem with my wife's Durango thought I was only one. Same year as yours and same amount of miles. Everything electronic shut off on it one time. They had to order new computer. It stayed in the shop for a month because part was on back order. I have been wondering what the hell I'm going to do with this POS myself.

94-2001 rams were quite possibly the worst trucks ever.

Spiral Out

swampman46 04-12-2014 07:27 AM

Yeah but wait guys! Chrysler made it all better. They re-branded it as Ram!

Have you talked to Inchspinner about this? He successfully got a buy back from Dodge on his wife's car.

alphaman 04-12-2014 11:13 AM

I will give him a call

Haha. My company buys the 2500 4 X's by the trailer it seems. Right now my issued vehicle is a 2012 2500 heavy duty with the 5.7 hemi. Pure turd and gas guzzler. The last one I had was a '07 4.8l 1500 that finally gave up the ghost at around 180k. Had to replace heads, cooling system and transmission at 110k. Never had the electronics kill on me tho.

Only thing worth buying is the diesel since they stopped making the 318

ShadMan 04-21-2014 08:41 PM

But the rest of the truck around the motor is junk, so if you can afford a few thousand more, buy a decent brand. Pay for it up front or pay for it 3x in repairs over the time you own it. I made the Dodge mistake once, and I've towed boats home twice now for people who lost their trannies on boat ramps. Complete trash vehicles.

outdoorsman 04-21-2014 09:01 PM

I had one of those lemons in 2003, dodge Durango. By the time I hit 37000 miles it was in the shop 12-14 times for the same problem, the part believe it or not they had to get from gm. Took all the paperwork to a lawyer that advertises for the lemon law and Still could not get them to take it back. I just wanted to get out from under it. Get rid of now before warranty is up.

papap 04-21-2014 09:10 PM

I've had 5 dodge trucks. 4 with Hemi and one diesel. Never had any problems. So what brand never has a lemon????

swamp snorkler 04-21-2014 09:56 PM

alpha my neighbor has a Jeep Grand Cherokee with Hemi Nd its giving him the same problems.
