Prayers Needed

A friend of mine and a family member were making a lacassine duck hunt this morning. They hit a big limb running down the bayou and it injured our friend pretty bad. Had to be airlifted from the boat launch to the hospital here in Lafayette. I am going to head up there this evening.

He is alive but in ICU

I think it ripped the trolling motor off the front deck then knocked him onto the back deck...

I hit a decent sized log opening morning. Thank goodness, i wasn't going wide open.
The Good Lord was on my side Saturday morning. After i hit the log, what is normally a 10 minute run took 30 minutes dodging debris. Rather stay safe than rush to the blind.

I will keep him in my prayers. Keep us posted on his progress. The same thing happened to me about 8 years ago in Sabine Refuge. I was shining in the cuts to see if anyone was in them as I was running. There are some parts of the bank that are clean which you can run was no way to see the trees hanging over when I shinned the cut. It the front of the boat then caught me in the chest and flipped me out. Thankfully my buddy and dog was sitting on the floor as they did not get hit by anything but small limbs. The kill switch worked then the boat went a ways turned hard and ran up on the bank. Q-Beam was hanging in the tree and it was cold and pitch black. I had to holler to check on my buddy and swim back to the boat. Luckily I only ended up bruised scratched and extremely cold. One of the scariest moments of my life. I hope other can learn from this story to help keep us all safe out there.

That's great!!! Alot of people throw caution into the wind when running at night and forget how easily something can go wrong. Sadly, it takes something like this to happen for people to really open their eyes. I'm glad that he's doing OK now and wish him a speedy recovery.
