Looking for

A small not to expensive trailer to put a 300 gallon fuel tank on to leave down at camp

If anyone has a lead please let me know

Paulox86 04-23-2014 12:12 AM

You gonna haul this trailer back and forth with 300 gallons of gasoline on the roads and highway? If so, watch out for cops. That is very illegal. Tried that once. You would not believe the DOT regs for hauling tanks of gasoline. Now diesel tanks have very few regs.

Fuel tank

Find a local fuel distributor and have them bring the fuel to your location, hell on pulling 300 gal on a utility trailer! Got a 250 and a 300 at the house, much easier!

"W" 04-23-2014 08:35 AM

Yea, I have a fuel guy lined up to come fuel my tank when he comes by once a week but I still have to get from camp to boat stalls

You could build your own from Harbor freight.

Not a good idea. Gas weighs a little over 6 lbs per gallon. 250 gallons is around 1,600 lbs and 300 gallons is around 2,000 lbs. I wouldn't trust an el cheapo trailer to haul gas with.

biggun 04-23-2014 10:24 AM

W.. I'll let U borrow mine.. I'll actually come move it for U if U need.. I only charge $125.00 Hr... HEHEHE.. Im just kidding... The Cool-aid drinker I AM!!!!

have you considered just using something like one of these?

http://www.jmesales.com/catalog/rect...pumps,5695.htm

sounds like a whole lot less hassle then a trailer even if you have to make a second trip to refill it.

Salty 04-23-2014 10:27 AM

This is a dumb idea!!!!!

BayBolt23 04-23-2014 10:31 AM

Yea go with the fuel tank/ toolbox combo.

noodle creek 04-23-2014 10:48 AM

Big Tex sells small ones that are good for fuel tanks. My dad just bought one for a 200 gallon tank he keeps in his hangar. 600 bucks with tax and license, and it's a good quality trailer. Also a good size for a 4-wheeler

Hauling 5gal gas cans sucks, done with that.. this will ride in back of my truck till I go buy a small trailer to leave a camp

noodle creek 04-23-2014 10:51 AM

Pumpelly's should give you a tank if you go over there, and if you fill up at bulk plant you can usually get gas for about 30 cents cheaper if you are buying 200-300 gals.

BayBolt23 04-23-2014 11:06 AM

Waltrip let me know if u need one a little bigger than that!
I have a brand new one that holds 330 gallon sitting at the shop right now!

If you need a pump PM me...

redaddiction 04-23-2014 02:51 PM

Do NOT use an electric pump with gasoline! Are you crazy? I knew a guy who almost lost his life using a pump to empty flamable liquids. before.

Also there's a ton of regulations for transporting gasoline. Better check into that before hauling that around on the roads.

That's good to know. Just be carefull. I'd use a manual pump just in case.

toodeep 04-23-2014 04:49 PM

find you some old 18 wheeler fuel tanks and mount on the trlr DOTD approved. Seen it more than once in grand isle. the guy live in baton rouge and drive down with 4 on a trailer.

rustyb 04-23-2014 05:06 PM

Not going to happen the owner of the Marina don't want to deal with dot, epa, etc

PUREBAY2200 04-23-2014 05:49 PM

Won't u get water in a tank that size if ur only using it to fill your boat up, just thinking about how often you will be filling up the boat.

If the tank has a cover how will water get in? And the little bit of water that may get in should be filtered out pretty easily.

I'm not gonna explain how water forms in fuel. Use google.

hewes 04-23-2014 07:17 PM

the road from your camp to stalls is not private.

Condensation is main way this will happen along with our nice humidity... would need a separator for h20

Check with Slusher. He used to have one.

AubreyLaHaye458 04-23-2014 08:33 PM

Idk how your boat stall is set up, but you could probably even rig it up to gravity feed and not even worry about a pump. Might have slight problems with trash but not much most likely. Especially with all the filters you got
