Powerpole 8 ft Blade on a Blackjack?

I'm thinking about putting an 8 foot PP Blade on my Blackjack. I'm worried that once installed, it may stick up too high to fit in my garage. This is why I have ruled out the 10 foot Blade for now. I have about 3 inches of clearance between the top of my center console and garage door opening. I also have about a foot of clearance behind my boat to lower the power pole for extra clearance once it is backed into my garage. Does anyone here have an 8 foot PP Blade on their Blackjack that could give me some insight as to how much higher the Powerpole sits in relation to the top of the center console?

How high is ceiling in garage? You cant lower it to fit thru door then raise once thru?

Just find out the overall height of the unit. Figure out where it will be mounted. Buy a scrap piece of dowel at Home Depot. Tape it to the boat and just measure it. Then you will KNOW for sure if it will fit or not.

Yeah you can just put it half way down back in and then pick up.
Now you can get the 10'

I would have them measure from the top of the power pole to the ground.

Get a 10' and lower it so you can get in the garage. That's what I do with my 8'.

I have a high enough ceiling. I don't know why I didn't think of something so simple lol. I never was very good at problem solving! That's why I ask questions. I'm the kind of person that will forget to lower it when pulling it out of the garage though! I can already see it happening....

Clampy 05-20-2014 05:18 PM

Good news is you Prolly will.only do it once.

Keep a remote in your truck.

Goooh 05-20-2014 05:26 PM

Most salt life thread in a while.

A real gangsta remotes that dude from the truck and never slows down.

I put mine all the way down instead of chocking the wheels - works well on a camper too.

I've got an 8' pro series, doesn't stand as high as the grab rail on console..

Great, that's what I was waiting to hear. Thanks for sharing. Do you have the jackplate mount or is it mounted on the transom?

DA COVE 05-25-2014 08:52 AM

It's on a bracket that mounts between the boat and JP. I'll try and get a few pics of it..

Nice, thanks for taking the time to take and share those pictures. They help a lot! I'm undecided about getting a bracket like yours or going with a mount further off to the side.

DA COVE 05-25-2014 06:53 PM

Yea, pp great almost anywhere it's mounted!!! Glad I could help..

bayouchub 05-25-2014 07:26 PM

Depending on your jp its probably predrilled for a pp jp bracket. Makes for a very simple install.

Thanks for the heads up, I'll look into it

PP

My dad and I put a 10' blade on our bayboat and mounted it to the side of the jp like someone said above. We didn't want to drill anymore holes in the boat and the Bob's jp had "knockouts" where to drill. It wasn't hard at all.

The jackplate mount is they way to go. They make a 2 piece braced jackplate mount that is made for the 10 footer. You can use it on the 8 footer,it is very sturdy. The single non braced bracket has some flex to it.

This is on a atlas plate but it mounts up the same on a bobs machine once you drill the holes on the bobs.

Yea but if op has a jackplate there is no reason to pull motor to mount bracket.

I have the same motor and Atlas jackplate on my BJ and this looks like the way to go. I appreciate everyone pitching in to help!

I added the 8' Pro Series II to mine this year and love it. It is lower than the cc grabrail. Baseball, gotta keep it clean though...don't let mud stick to it, it will make that clean boat of yours look bad. Lol

Haha if she is muddy and bloody at the end of the day then it was a good one! That's what power washers are for! Again, I appreciate all the pictures and input from everyone to help me out

Mines mounted to the transom, but it was like that when I bought the boat
