Mite be further than u want to go but just south of Kaplan is a lil store that has everything u can imagine. G&H is the name if I remember. My dad bought some crab cages there for a good price. They should have the nets u are looking for.

Touchard marine in Delcambre makes some good ones for a good price.

The guy at Louisiana net and twine on Cameron street makes them to order.

Touchards in Delcambre...the 24" version had an oval ring at the top...it helps me fit it into my front compartment. A typical round one would not of fit for storage.
|
I know you want Laffy area but theres a guy in Raceland that sells them. He uses galvanized rings instead of stainless because according to him "crabs don't like shiny rings its like a force field" Sure enough my buddy bought a dozen from him and fished them against his stainless ring nets and the galvanized caught more crabs........ go figure.
He sells them at the farmers market on Saturday in Raceland, you can also go get them from his house. $125 dozen |
netmkr@yahoo.com live in Lafayette send email will respond 26" double ring dipped with float ready to fish $35.00 all hand tied last you a while

I heard the "boat shop" on hwy 90 near New Iberia, (I think Iberia marine)had some nice ones for around 15$

I find when using the round nets they take up a lot of room and awkward to use. But if you are trying to catch crabs in a high "pressure" area, nets may work better.
I use nothing but a "drop line" tied to the side of my boat to catch crabs. I find if the bait is tied with a string, the crabs will often cut the line while eating the bait. Here is a picture of what I use. I keep some of the trout heads after cleaning the fish to use for crab bait. |
I want a net that can fit in my front compartment. If it's to big I'll place it under my ice chest under the lean post.
I'm a Lil rusty trying to catch them on the string like that. Lol Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using Tapatalk |

Just pull up the string and scoop the net under the crabs. Most of the time I have to shake the string to get the crabs to let go. This is making me what to go catch some more. |
I'm to slow. Lol I kept missing them last time went out. I'll try the string what you said. Hang a string off the side if the boat. No time I'm out!

Louisiana Net and Twine
You will pay a little more but they are better made and are deeper to hold the crabs in better. These nets work great in a strong current. Just my $.02 |
