Reef names?

1 Attachment(s)
what's the names of the reefs south of marsh island. Starting from Tee Butte reef going east.
I see 6 reefs that are not far off the south shore line of marsh island. With 1 really long, its an upside down J shape reef.

Ive never ventured pass pavey reef but I like too this summer once the fishing gets better!!

Can someone name them please. From Tee Butte to Rabbit Island

1. Tee Butte west
2. Caldwell reef at the pass
3. Pavey reef 2 miles east from the pass.
4. Diamond reef
5.

Some of these reefs have several different names, depending on what group of fishermen you are talking too. Thanks for asking, with map, so that I will also know the names. I've fished "T" Butte many times & I think it is located several miles west of SW Pass. You correctly located Diamond Reef but can not help with the other names. Will be interested to read replies, which will not only help "you" but will also help me.

Pavy's reef, chenere le Croix (something like that), and one of the ones on the other side of diamond is long reef.....not sure about the others. All I have to say is you better know where you are running out there. Safest method for beginners is go about a mile out before you head East to look for them....you shouldn't hit anything

If you have google earth, use the feature that lets you look at previous years imagery. Use 2005, the water was really low when it was shot and you can see more of the details of the reefs.

Camille would be the last reef. After Camille you run in to the Shell Keys reefs. Between Camille and Long reef is ol' man reef; not very big but shallows up in the middle of no-where! There are SEVERAL smaller reefs between the two! Run way out to the south between all these reefs to avoid losing your lower unit! Get the chip for your GPS from the guy in New Iberia...best info out there on these reefs.

11/1/2005 to be specific.

I don't need to know the reefs that badly! Geez!

Best to just go out there on a really low tide and mark the GPS. There are tons of small scattered reefs that people pass by headed east out of the pass. Everyone heads for Diamond reef or Pavy's.

You got map so jus get out and man overboard um your self.
Post quads here. If u have um and u got um your self.
How many make it there anyway more than twice a year. I haven't heard of a guy that went regular in a while.

Very true! I know I don't get out there more than 2-3 times a year.

Academy on Amabassador has HookNLine maps of Vermilion Bay, shows all the reefs and coordinates and all the other hotspots and when the best time to fish them

cabwiz2 06-01-2014 09:14 AM

Captain Paul's The Fishing Edge has all of the reefs on it and is just $25 and he gas them for almost all gps systems

I have it for Grand Isle, Coco/dularge and BL. Not VBay though.

alphaman 06-01-2014 01:21 PM

I'm going to get me a few of those for the areas I fish

They are mostly a feel good thing - it feels better sitting on a spot that someone claims to have caught fish at before.

Other than that, there are so many spots on it that you are just as likely to catch by reading the water and fishing random areas...

Reefman 06-02-2014 09:46 AM

Navionics Charts do show quite a bit of all the reefs; not 100%. They don't show little Diamond reef which lies southeast of the main reef 1/2 mile off. There are 2 reefs to the west before pavy that has torn up a few lower units. Never seen them exposed at low tide.
