Well these trucks have been out for a little while. GMC Sierra and the Silverado

How is the new body style and engine holding up? How's the towing with the 355hp.

#lets here it

Tjethro85 08-02-2014 09:23 PM

Friend of mine had owned an 07.5 and just bought a '14. Noticeable difference pulling his bass boat.

Goooh 08-02-2014 09:37 PM

Research the recalls, they have had more than anyone should be allowed. The recalls haven't been minor issues either.

Oil leaks causing fires, steering loss, transfer cases on 4x4 models.

Top Dawg 08-02-2014 10:17 PM

One word. Ford. Not a diesel tho lol

RigRatNoMeaux 08-02-2014 10:39 PM

Love mine. Had a 6.7 Ford that I absolutely loved. But the ride and fuel economy are great! Still miss my big Ford though! Lol. I got the high country edition and that Thang is sweet!

Had a Ford broke down on the side of 210 yesterday lol. None of them are immune. The classic "dont make em like they used to" arguement here.

The gas mileage does SUCK BIG TIME!!! I drove a friends tundra to Kenner pulling a box trailer to pick up his spider. Filled up in lafayette and was praying on the bridge to make it to Henderson bc. The gas light came on while getting on the achaf Bridge. That is horrible gas mileage 8-9 miles a gallon pulling a trailer

ronniem 08-03-2014 08:43 AM

I have a 13 tundra and the 4x4 flex fuel engines have known issues with the computers thinking they are running E85 fuel even when you dont. This causes them to run very rich, hard to start and crappy fuel eco.
I dont think any manufactor makes them like they used to is the most accurate statement.

Fuel flex on any engine sucks
End of story

PUREBAY2200 08-03-2014 09:06 AM

If you stay under 70 mph, which is the safe way to trailer a boat, u will not have a massive drop in mileage.

goldenrod 08-03-2014 09:25 AM

I have a 2011 tundra and fuel mileage sucks.

PUREBAY2200 08-03-2014 09:36 AM

Y'all must drive nascar style.
I go the 5.7 and I'm happy with my mileage.
Let's be real guys, it's a truck. If u want great MPG get a Camry Hybrid.... Lol
Arguing over gas mileage on a truck is pointless.

Nitramiii 08-03-2014 09:39 AM

I'm not saying Gmc is the best truck on the planet, but hear is what I do know. I bought the 2014 5.2 for my son and a 6.2 6months later for myself. I came out of a 2008 6.2. My sons truck seemed to pull and sound much quiter than my old 6.2. We stomped it side by side at 40 mph and he hammered my old 6.2. My new 6.2 now takes him at any given speed when we tested them recently. As for towing a 24 champion, the 6.2 does very well when compared to my 2008 6.2. It's quiter, does not hunt for gears and the tow haul is usable without being so mechanically rough. It's a compleTly different truck than the old body style. In town (Lafayette) around 13-14. Highway 17-18 @ 75-80mph. Towing short trip to c point 11 mph.

At those speeds it must take forever to get anywhere.

Nitramiii 08-03-2014 10:23 AM

Hahah....Oops, 11mpg

mriguy 08-03-2014 10:29 AM

I'm waiting on the 2015 F150, my dad's 2014 Chevy 5.3 is very nice.

bjhooper82 08-03-2014 12:48 PM

Bought a 2015 Tahoe a month ago and just drove it to Destin. Stayed at 73-75 most of the way and we averaged 25 mpg.

DA COVE 08-03-2014 02:31 PM

Put that 6.2 next to an Ecoboost and see what it does...

noodle creek 08-03-2014 02:47 PM

F150 hasn't been number one selling truck for 30+ years for no reason.

Yep, a lot of my freinds have ecoboost, tundra's, and dodges. They are all great trucks and I would be happy to driveing any of them.

eman 08-03-2014 07:03 PM

If ya don't tow a camper or a big boat look at the tacoma prerunner . 21 mpg hwy 19 towing my 18 ' boat . rides better w/ the boat behind it on the hwy.

keakar 08-03-2014 07:09 PM

wish they still made the s-10 for those of us who don't need full size and for that matter, I wish they still had any of the mini trucks, Nissan, Toyota, mazda, that get 30mpg with inline 4 cylinders.

I don't care what B S they try to say, there is absolutely no reason they cant make a 30-40mpg full size full power truck when they are making 40 & 50mpg cars.

my 1998 full size chevy Silverado with a v8 small block 350 engine gets 19mph & 21 highway pulling the boat doing 70mph with the a/c on which is way better then all of the new trucks out there that only get 16 & 17 mpg new when not pulling a trailer. if I bought a new truck today it would get the same 15mpg that my 1974 c-10 pickup used to get so whats up with that? why buy new to get WORSE gas mileage?

they havent produced a better gas mileage truck since the 1970's when they got 12-15mpg

Tjethro85 08-03-2014 09:45 PM

PUREBAY2200 08-03-2014 10:17 PM

BassYakR 08-04-2014 06:37 AM

My tacoma gets about 18 hwy 16 city... and about 12 pulling anything... Terrible for a small truck. But i love it... u can buy one and in 10 years still sell it for alot of money... unlike one of those other trucks. lol... Oh and and the lil ole v6 will put a spanking on an Ecoboost, chevy, tundra or titan.

What recalls are you guys referring to? I have had 2 recalls on my new GMC. One was power sliding back glass and one was something with exhaust. Don't know what's such a big deal with that. Brought it into the dealership and they took care of it in a few hours. Love my truck. F-150 is a nice ride too. But after my 2012 F250 was in the shop FIVE times before I hit 50k miles, I traded that POS in on my GMC All Terrain. Had a 2009 Duramax that I put 100,000 miles on without one issue before I sold it. My dad has new GMC with about 60k miles and not one issue and I have about 20k miles on mine with no issues. Gets about 15-16 in town and 18-19 on hwy. Towing is night and day between it and the older GMs. Haters gonna hate.

BassYakR 08-04-2014 07:55 AM

If i was to buy a full size truck it would be a hard decision between the Ford and the GMC i like them both equally! I dont care about all that recall BS... It would probably just be which dealership in my area gave me the best deal!

BuckingFastard 08-04-2014 07:59 AM

yea id have a hard time deciding as well
