Excel bay pro 220

Anybody have any info on these boats. Thinking about upgrading from my G3 1966 CC to one of these Excel Bay Pro 220. Gonna go look at one today at Jerry's Marine.

swamp snorkler 08-07-2014 11:44 AM

How much you looking to deal that G3 for?

LadyFishKiller 08-07-2014 12:01 PM

I'll inbox you the specs of everything I have installed on it.

jpeff31787 08-08-2014 02:35 PM

never heard of them.. post up some pics when you go

Cajun83 08-08-2014 08:55 PM

I've read a bit about them, nothing bad that I've seen. .125 hull, I believe. 15° deadrise should do ok in a bit of chop.

Have you seen the new G3 bay boats? They're pretty sweet. Look like the xpress bay series hull. Come with dual axle trailers with brakes.

Nice!!!

LadyFishKiller 08-11-2014 02:43 PM

The new G3 Bay has the same setup as far as storage and live wells as the Excel, but the Excel's are cheaper. G3 dealer in Beaumont said $34,500 for 20' G3 Bay with a Yamaha 150 SHO. Jerry's Marine told me they sold an Excel Bay Pro 22' with a Yamaha 150, not the SHO for lil over $30,000. Think the Excel Bay Pro 20' with 150 was $27,700 something.

LadyFishKiller 08-11-2014 02:46 PM

Puddy, what did you pay for that 22'?

davidpuddy 08-11-2014 06:27 PM

I paid 31000 out the door. Not a bad deal from what I've been told. I priced, and checked out a lot of boats the last month, and the excel was cheaper for the exact same options than every other boat in its class. Also the fit and finish is heads and tails above the xpress h22b. Which is what I wanted when I first started looking.

Josh you like JayZ with that boat.

"I'm on to the next one on to the next one."

I would research that Excel they look sweet but they had lots of issues with the smaller boats.

That 22ft G3 looked nice, and a decent price.

Are you considering a fiberglass hull or Aluminum only?

BlackBeard 07-08-2015 10:45 AM

Don't rush them....not where you want someone hurrying things up to calm down a crazy customer.

BlackBeard 08-04-2015 10:15 AM

No complaints from me. I have 80 hours on mine now. From pulling kids in the tube, skiing, wake boarding, and fishing. It does it all.

nozediver 03-16-2016 01:10 PM

Purrty looking boat. The best two days of boat ownership are the day you pick it up and the day you sell it. LOL. Congrats

I'm looking at getting one in near future, I mainly fish Toledo but want the SW capability and wondering how well it handles the swells because Toledo can get nasty at times. I cracked a weld on my Alumacraft from the beating of Toledo chop. And also how rough is the ride in those conditions?

BlackBeard 04-04-2016 08:53 AM

rides great due to the design of the hull (similar to a bas boat). Handles offshore SC great. Good dry boat

I second this statement. No complaints from me.

Salyfz 04-04-2016 09:22 AM

BlackBeard and davidpuddy, what props are y'all running on your rigs?

I'll be honest. It's the one that came on the motor when I bought it. I have a great hole shot, and at WOT i have 5900 RPM, so I never thought about trying a new prop. I can look when I get home to see what pitch it is thought.

Salyfz 04-04-2016 12:26 PM

The reason I ask is for my brother. He has a similar rig with the F150. His came with a Powertech OFX 21" pitch. He's thinking about trying a Mercury Tempest and a Mercury Trophy both in 21" pitch. He tried my 21" pitch Yamaha Saltwater Series 2. It turned 300 rpm's less than the 21" Powertech and chattered really bad at idle. I believe the 150 needs a lighter weight prop.

I fish toledo bend all the time with mine. Its not as smooth as a 22ft fiberglass boat but it can handle pretty much anything Toledo Bend can dish out. I've crossed the lake in 15+mph winds no problem.
