The news paper said that about 2300 sq ft. of concrete would be replaced. That looks to be a lot more than the 2300 sq ft.
I was thinking that only the area out in front of the boat launch would be replaced. This picture shows the concrete out in front of the top of the boat ramp. Notice the concrete on the lower left in the pic., it looks to be fairly good. I don't remember what the concrete looked like in the area out by the restrooms. . |
Well of course. Somebody's buddy, brother in law, friend, gets the job to replace good concrete and get PAID really good.

I never had a problem with cracks haha

I think they are also adding another lane to the boat launch... and i had heard that there were some issues of errosion under the concrete of the launch.
|
Our government wastes millions daily on non necessities. Bout time they wasted some on us sportsmen!
|
Can we get a reef made with all that good concrete they pulled up

Seems like a huge waste of money, unless there are some foundation issues I don't know about. Cal Point is probably one the best public launches in the state. The only thing it needs is a few more boat stalls but that's being nit picky. Even during peak times the three boat launches moves pretty quick.
|
core samples were taken last summer the channel is washing out under the area that is being repaired
|
Nice that they are repairing it before it got bad

and if they do widen it more dock space would be necessary, its minimal now! |
All I want for Christmas is gas at the landing. The pipe is there but I've been told the state won't let them put in tanks and connect to it. Bring in a tanker truck and stash it in a catch basin for spills. They would make a KILLIN!!!
So is the landing actually closed to launching boats? |

Completely. 100% closed. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Hadnt been there in a while. Sucks when your camp house is 1 mile away. Any landings closer then heberts?

Didnt realize freds was a public launch
|
Fred's isn't much of a launch just some mud and chunks of concrete, that drops off very fast
|
Any new pics or info on the point?

As per the Calc Pt. Facebook page they should be finished in March with construction and will open back up as soon as they're able to catch shrimp again. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Wanna talk about frivolous, wasteful, spending. there it is right there. They need to fix 1000sq ft so they rip up the whole darn thing! This was a brother-in-law deal for sure.
|
I was in the LNG canal a little over a week ago. There were 2 pieces of equipment digging up dirt then. There was a 6'+ tall mound of dirt.
|
Did i see fuel tanks going in????? Nah just dreamin
|
They are getting close, concrete in the launch area is done but they are installing two islands which, in my opinion, will cause a bottleneck where trailers are pulling into the launch. The parish folks need to see what happens early on a busy Saturday morning.
Just my opinion, maybe it will be OK. |
|
looks like before but cleaner. i wish they would've paved the parking lot instead
|
I guess that's one reason why I just had to pay 5% to the parish on the new boat I bought from out of state.
|
So not open yet though huh?

Sure seems like a big waste to me. They should have used that money to build some more dock space. Probably a brother-in-law deal that pours concrete :shaking: |

The water was burrowed underneath the ramp and the dirt underneath the ramp was washing out. Sounds like they're trying to keep it the best boat ramp on the lake Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Still wish they installed a few more boat slips |
I walked around out there yesterday. I could not see any work that was done on the ramp but the concrete area is all redone. The barriers that I saw were just left of homerun's picture, maybe they won't interfere.
