They say this ol boy makes a GREAT retriever! I havn't had the oppurtunity to use him on a hunt yet, but they tell me he sure knows how to fetch em up when he don't wear his house slippers to the blind. Looks like he did a pretty good job gettin dem der specks.

That's some good looking dogs you guys have. I wish mine would be trained but I got him right before Rita hit and didn't have time to train him so he's just a pet. When he was a pup he would go get small things I would throw for him but once I started working on my house I had to give up spending training time for repairing my house.

22 for 20 its his first year and we have no ducks but he would love to get more. He is impressing me more and more every trip. Ok so maybe I like my lab more than my best friends too which is why I have so many pics lol. My wife swears I love him more than her...my answer was that she could be in his place if she retrieve my ducks lol.

here is ace (chocolate) and kay (black). I used to have some awesome pics of both but they got lost. Ace was my boy he used to sleep in the bed with me till i got married then he moved outside:cry:. He still retrieves but he is getting old and i'm kinda scared to bring him. I brought him to the marsh 2 times last year and he did good but was really sore. Kay is a bisquit eater she is huge I tried putting her on a diet but she just would go eat out of the trashcans so i gave up. she threw 3 litters of great puppies though. I had to go take that picture of her she don't have a whole lot of action shots.

Take them both.......maybe a little competition would make them do better.

Shawn Braquet 12-28-2009 10:23 AM

well gerald she is a female and well drake might not be hunting for the same thing out there if they both go, drake is doing well especially here in the last two weeks. Between thursday and saturday he picked up 1 goose 19 ducks and 2 coots, he couldnt find one goose but other than that he picked up everything we shot. And I got fool to witness it.

Was digging through some pictures & thought I would add a few more. I trained labs for almost 20 years, this is by far the best dog I've put my hands on.

He's been trained in high end security, blood dog, charter boat captain, he taught Catdaddy how to catch 'em & is a working dog....completely passed out after splitting a whole cord of firewood!

& people have had the nerve to ask if I was any good!

blackmamba 05-04-2010 02:26 PM

You gotta get that dog a log splitter. She looks whipped

Armand16 05-04-2010 02:29 PM

where i hunt in the marsh, if u dont have a dog with u, you are going to lose 20-30% of the birds u shoot. Its real thick grass. I have seen a duck fall 10 yards from someone and they still cant find it.

Anybody know if there is a retriever group/club around baton rouge? I've got an awesome dog and she's working like a charm, always room for improvement on her part and mine.
