mallardhead 02-18-2015 09:30 PM

I used to run a 25 tohatsu on a Karl stryon tunnel I would play all the time like that would always trip friends out lol. Piss on the prop run one the black top. Don't know how I ever blew that motor. My cousin down the road owns it now still runs like a top.

Mallard I prob own the same boat, I have a 17X38 with a 25 Nissan its a sweet little marsh boat. Did u ever modify anything on your cooling system?

mallardhead 02-18-2015 09:51 PM

No just pulled the little plastic piece off the end of the pisser and ran a Lil bigger hose that motor would piss pure mud and never overheat

What little plastic piece?

mallardhead 02-18-2015 10:08 PM

The little piece that the hose is hooked to in hood to where it comes out of the case

Did you do anything to the intake on the lower unit?

mallardhead 02-18-2015 10:11 PM

mallardhead 02-18-2015 10:17 PM

I anxious for lacassine to open to try my motor I have now I drilled out the water port coming out the to twice the size it was should have no problem pissing mud

B-Stealth 02-18-2015 10:27 PM

The boats nothing special you can see the bottom rib marks in the mud, but the motor is mounted super high. Those little outboards will run higher than the water intakes, just gotta figure out how to keep it cool.

mallardhead 02-18-2015 10:34 PM

The boat is defiantly tunneled you can hear the vaccum in the video when it finally takes off

So you just drilled out the exit hole on coming out of the engine block?

mallardhead 02-19-2015 08:45 AM

Yup been having lots of problems with it plugging up with duck weed haven't had a problem since drilling in wanna see how it will do in lacassine

This may be a dumb question...but is a tunnel necessary running in these conditions?

mallardhead 02-19-2015 09:09 AM

What conditions?

Similar to the video...slim-to-none water. Running a mud flat like that.

I have run my boat across a flat like that, but I would never dream of stopping in the middle of it. Don't plan on mud riding in my boat, but it is nice to know you can in case of tide changes or an emergency.

mallardhead 02-19-2015 09:31 AM

I would never stop with a jack plate in something like that a tunnel yes I have done it many times lol

Duffy.yyz 02-19-2015 09:42 AM

If you set up a merc 25hp (2 stroke) on a long tunnel they will go through a mud flat with ease. I hate to say it but the merc out performs the yamie 25 2 stroke hands down on the same hull. We have both in GC and when the water gets real low I only take out the merc.

Agreed x1000

Duffy.yyz 02-19-2015 01:06 PM

How much better will a flat do than a semi-v? Or does it really make a difference?

Reefman 02-19-2015 02:17 PM

I'm no expert, but a semi- v will sit lower in the water/mud along its center line causing more resistance with foot of motor sitting even lower. A flat with a proper tunnel will force a cleaner water stream for the water intake and help aid a thinner mud flow for the prop to grab.
