Fishing in the fridge 12/11/2009
 

Winds 15 to 20, Temp. 44, Surface water temp. 51.

My wife woke me up at 5 am. If she don't sleep, I don't sleep.
So I hooked up the boat and hit the water on one of Speckdaddy's holes.
Caught a 5 1/2 pounder on a jerk bait.
I fished from daylight till 9 am. Just one fish, but a good one.

Leave my birds alone !!!!!!!!

Zero birds in Big Lake this morning. ZILCH!!!

Nice hog. I had a day like that on Sabine once - caught one fish all day, but it was a 5lber. Still well worth it!!

Just a bump, it didn't hit hard or fight hard, until it got close to the boat.
Then the fight was on.

I was twitching it slowly. The water was cold cold cold.

Yea in this cold they will just come up and softly pick it up sometimes, other times they roll on it and jerk the rod. In cleaner water if they hit it soft and you can see the fish, it feels like everything is in slow motion for a split second, sweeeet.

Your holes were dead. I had to hit Speckdaddy's hole. :grinpimp:

It will be eaten tomorrow. It was my dad's birthday tonight. Had to take him out to a fancy place to eat.

There was zero birds on the lake. All I saw was a lot of geese heading North and a few Merganzers.

What possessed you to throw a Bomber? I thought you were a soft plastics guy?

I chunk hard plastics too.
I threw it cause it was cold and I wanted something to move slow,
but below the surface.

It has a dot on the side and 3 hooks.
I got it from Academy a couple months ago.
It has no name on the lure itself.

The head and tail are different. Might not be a Bomber.

It has an orange spot on where the first hook behind the head is screwed on the lure.

If it is a Bomber...I'm not familiar with that one.

Speaking of "free stuff".....I gave Bruce and W a hat and they don't even wear it. Also, W claims not to have thrown the baits I gave him. :smokin: He just sits back and watches Bruce catch fish on 'em. :p

I don't have the package it came in anymore.
I chunked it and put the lure in a tackle box.
It was on sale at Academy. I liked the way it
looked. I ain't scared of no cheap lure.

Especially in the conditions like today.
Must have been the only Speck in the lake and
the only lure in the lake.
I saw 2 crab boats and 2 center consoles today.
One was a big 22 or 24 ft. Nauticstar and the
other looked about 20 or 22 ft. Pathfinder.
And me...
