alphaman 05-04-2015 10:00 AM

Was it a Morning or afternoon bite

ahlangle 05-04-2015 12:02 PM

i don't know much about it, but are the fish affected only while the moon is up during the full moon?

Marque 05-04-2015 12:24 PM

I don't know if they are affected by the full moon other than the fact that the major tidal movement occurs when the moon is out. The tides are stronger during a full moon and new moons. Fish usually feed when the tide is moving and most people don't fish at night.

Let's plan something fellas. Late evening into the night type of trip I guess.

I think this would be fun!!! depending tide and the weather will determine the time to get out there.

I went out there for the first time Saturday that was pretty fun and quick run.

haoward 05-04-2015 06:13 PM

did you catch anything?

Guys.. Its over.. Tried making an afternoon trip.. ESE winds 10-15 Knots greeted us when I got to the bay...

The wind was blowinf the white cap off the top of the 2-3' s. Got to the pass .It wasn't any better... But I had a friend who doesn't get to fish often.. Made it to the reef.. Its gusting to 20 knots now..

We Fished about 30 minutes.. Nada... Headed back in to the pass.. Well saw a boat tied up toa channel marker.. WL&F was there.. Getting the peps off boat... I called on VHF... I agreed to tow their boat back to ICY..

Man, 2 hrs later. A thunderstorm hit us as we get into the 4 mile.. Lightning all over..

Made It to the landing. Get the broken boat to the Wharf.. It was raining sideways. Blowin 30-35 knots....... Finally got the boat on the trailer, 3 of us are soaking wet.

Winds will be blowing in the upper 20's for rest of week into next week..

Goooh 05-04-2015 10:49 PM

Biggun, glad you did your "good dead" for the day. Did they buy your gas for the day? If not, they should have.

It has been years since I've fished T.S. but usually had good luck. Got caught out there by a thunder storm, but will never let that happen again. On my way in, a 13-1/2' Whaler was going "out", how dumb.

Karma. I towed a guy in last year from Pavy Reef and not long ago, I broke a prop shaft in the bay and got a tow from south of Dry Reef back. Always offer to help.

biggun 05-05-2015 12:22 PM

Karma.. Absolutely...

Yea he compensated me for the extra gas burned...It got hairy there for a little while..

Yea.. I know.. Haynie would gotten that 21 Kenner roll edge on step and made it back across bay in the 3' ESE slopp on my AZZZ in 30 minutes.. :))))))))

Even That Triton isn't immune to Lightning....My 2 friends where seating on the floor.. ONE Wanted to know were the life jackets were... They wanted me to be the highest thing in the boat.. :))))))))

Great Friends I must say...

Did you guys note the winds had been out of the West for a few days before his catch? You can see on Modis today the effect of a strong west wind, pushes clean gulf water toward the pass and muddy river water away. Now, we have a strong southeast wind. That will push muddy water back toward the pass.

Was just looking at that.

told a friend the other day they should rename VBay to East Wind Bay.

biggun 05-05-2015 04:30 PM

Oh yea.. It was chocolate yesterday. Going to get worst.. Its going to be blowing for the next 5-7 days 15-25 knots.

PathfinderNI 05-05-2015 04:42 PM

Yep...time now for the guides

to show their great weekend catches so that us peons can get excited only to find winds and dirty water out there, lol.
