US unveils plan to subsidize broadband for poor
 

""The top US telecom regulator on Thursday unveiled plans to subsidize high-speed Internet for low-income households, saying the service was essential for people trying to better themselves.

Federal Communications chairman Tom Wheeler proposed the plan to overhaul the "Lifeline" program which provides low-cost telephone service to include online access as well.



This statement really pissed me off


"A world of broadband 'haves' and 'have-nots' is a world where none of us will have the opportunity to enjoy the full fruits of what broadband has to offer."

that's what I'm screaming.. if they do give internet to all these people they should restrict it. No social media sites, no youtube or other video sites, no ebay or amazon, only sites for researching and I may be ok with them looking at the news but not really. They shouldn't even get access to weather sites, they can listen to free FM or AM frequencies and wait for the weather reports

I get to take drug tests for the privilege of keeping a job so I can pay taxes to help subsidize this stuff. The "entitled" can't be held to same level of accountability at least here in Florida because "what would happen to the children if public subsidies were cut off?"

permanent never ending unemployment checks without even having to prove you are trying to look for a job.

social security full time permanent disability based on being depressed because you cant find a job (or just too lazy to)

a free phone.

free internet access which must include a new internet access upgraded phones or laptops.

food stamps

welfare

SSI (supplemental security income) on top of and in addition to food stamps and welfare


free government housing if you pay $1 a month on the house note. (had one living next door with that and they failed to even pay the $1 a month and got kicked out lol)
