Water still looks high from the I-10 bridge and looks muddy. Haven't really heard anyone fishing but they are still having the Tuesday Dogfights in Orange. I haven't noticed a whole lot of boats the last two weeks however I am passing through there 30 minutes earlier than I normally pass through so maybe the crowd hasn't showed up yet.

The river up north is falling 1 to 2 foot a day....... so it won't be much longer.

Made a trip today to burnt out late start water on river still stained but starting to look better. Fished several areas and boated some fish on plastics. Water dropping another week it should clear up good if we don't get much rain. Nice day boated more fish then last week.

Made a trip this morning with my father-in-law. Water level is normal and I thought water looked decent. Seen better, seen worse.

We launch from the park shortly after 6 and fished until about 10:30. Water was flowing good and there was a lot of bait. Caught 21 total and kept 8. Most caught on red shad lizard and baby bass crank bait. All keepers similar to this guy.

Put in at burnt out and fished south on river tide was high and at a stand still. Water hasn't cleared much maybe just a little since last trip. Put in at 5 and out around 8:15 boated 14 fish only 1 over 14" but is was still a good trip. Caught them on soft plastic hog Jr in June bug color and some on watermelon red speed crawl Jr.

LukeMcFarlane 07-17-2015 04:35 PM

Bobby how big is that fish in the picture?

LukeMcFarlane 07-17-2015 05:25 PM

You think any of them over 14 inch?

splac 07-19-2015 07:32 PM

Another decent trip fished the river north of I10 bridge around the cuts going into the woods caught 18 fish all on plastic hog jrs and speed crawls had 3 fish over 14" and lost a nice one prob 17" river has been good this year mainly because salt water has been kept out due to Toledo bemd releasing all the water. More vegation on the river then I have seen in a long time. But its all about to change will have salt water coming in now and things are about to change. Salt water slows the eating patern and also stunts the growth of the fish because of it. I have caught more keeper fish this year then I have since they change the size limit. All that is about to change salt water is coming in and the 9" - 12" will start to get in bunches and it will be hit and miss. Just what I see from my side of things what do you see.

LukeMcFarlane 07-20-2015 03:40 PM

I think it gets better later in the year when the salt comes up. Love the shrimp bite

splac 07-20-2015 05:41 PM

Never tried it they are tearing up the bait fish now on south end.

LukeMcFarlane 07-20-2015 07:57 PM

South end of the river? Like where are you calling south end?

splac 07-21-2015 09:09 PM

South of I10 to Conway area. Fishing the mouths of all cuts and drains. Was gonna go today but fished big lake this morning will make a trip this week after work. The fish were hitting bait around the old signal shipyard last time I went but most of them are small. If you can't find clean water coming out are in and its mixed color fish that area it has been pretty good.

LukeMcFarlane 07-24-2015 06:48 AM

I have never fished nibletts much but am going this weekend. Any advice? I will report how I do after
