Boudin

Where is the best place to get boudin around lake Charles or kinder, coming down to gamble and want some for the freezer

lil bubba 07-29-2015 05:47 PM

Lil wooden store on side 190 at the foot of the bridge in Krotz springs is definitely worth the trip.......Boudin ,,,,crawfish balls smoke meats,,,,hog head cheese is all legit.......and def try the cracklins.................

Bluechip 07-29-2015 05:48 PM

Many places to choose from. In Lake Charles, I like Sonniers off Enterprise Blvd. turn east at the red light by Balls Fried Chicken.

Market Basket smoked boudin and regular boudin is excellent. Jimbo's on south common street is good.

Everyone has their preference as I'm sure you will get some more recommendations.

I will have to stop there next time...Never even noticed them cause my sister and bro in law stopped at Kart.....If I lived around there I would have already died of a heart attack................First time in there I actually walked to the back to see where they butchering the hogs........

Spunt Drag 07-29-2015 06:39 PM

Lake Charles boudin is really lacking compared to the Lafayette area. But the best boudin around here is Market Basket's IMO.

kcinnick 07-29-2015 08:34 PM

Laffy has some good Boudin. My friends always buy Best Stop. I save the trip and go to Jerry Lee's in BR, much closer and I love that each batch is a little different.

meaux fishing 07-29-2015 09:12 PM

Bourques in Port Barre best in the state followed closely by Billy's. Market Basket probably has the best in Lake Charles

Spunt Drag 07-29-2015 09:13 PM

Best Stop in Scott is my fave.

B-Stealth 07-29-2015 10:00 PM

Lake Charles Rice Dreassing- I mean boudin....

The only place in LC is Market Basket, anything else in LC is Rice Dressing in casing.

My top 2 are Mowata and Don's, sounds like I need to try a couple more.

swamp snorkler 07-30-2015 06:21 AM

I like them all!

It's kind of like a slice poon tang pie, some or better than better than others but most are good.

Goooh 07-30-2015 07:47 AM

Billeauds in Broussard doesn't disappoint. They've only been their since the 1800's too

mriguy 07-30-2015 08:35 AM

Mel's by Lake View Park between Mamou and Eunice is really good as well

Spunt Drag 07-30-2015 08:53 AM

Has anybody tried the boudin from Prime Cuttery? I heard it was good.

PEACEKEEPER 07-30-2015 10:17 AM

Right by the casino is a train car and it sells good stuff. Chadeaux's in kinder on 165 has good old fashion meaty boudin.

3 links for breakfast at least once a week.

Ed32 07-30-2015 08:31 PM

For all of you guys that go to the best stop I've recently discovered Billy's off the Scott exit and I find they are better

redaddiction 07-30-2015 08:51 PM

If ya'll ever on the south side of Lafayette, give Earl's grocery on Verot School Road a try. Really good boudin.

Lil Silver 07-31-2015 07:45 AM

Famous Food's on 14 just south of I-10 has some pretty good boudin and cracklins. Try those soft and spicy cracklins. Like Lays tater chips.

Ragin_Cajun 07-31-2015 09:57 AM

I like Chop's in Laffy. I agree with Billy's, he has better boudin but Best Stop has better cracklin

Jcredeur 07-31-2015 05:08 PM

I know this started as a Lake Charles thread but we can't forget about NuNu's on Milton, Maurice, and Youngsville. They are by far my favorite to throw on the grill!
I also won't pass up an opportunity to stop in at Peto's in Roanoke for a link of smoked!

Try the boudin eggrools dipped in Tobasco pepper jelly..... Every bite is worth the possible heart attack.

Elbert Chamblee 08-02-2015 04:21 PM

boudin

I buy the market basket boudin in Bridge City and they tell me it's made in Lake Charles. Get some cheese wiz and microwave to warm up. I put it in a Cajun injector and inject the link on each end. Doesn't take much.... Then smoke.....make ya hurt yourself! I try to stay away from it before I have blood work done.
I will try injecting the cream cheese next time.

Best I ever tasted was Charlie T's in Breaux Bridge. It's closed now tho. Is that recipe still being made somewhere?

mr crab 09-02-2015 07:36 AM

This is mine.

Living in Pensacola makes it a challenge to keep stocked up on it.

When I hear a buddy is traveling from Texas / Lafayette areas to here, I order 40 pounds, pre-pay, and have it ready to ship. They simply walk in, state my name, and walk out with the product.

5 hours later. I am stocked for awhile.

I also get two bowls of hogs head cheese as well

The best stop ships all over the world. Just give them a call when you need some.

Thanks.

I know they do, but the cost is high opposed to having a buddy stop by.

Lil smaller than a tennis ball. Seems like they were around $2. Dink would know for sure on price.

mriguy 09-06-2015 12:20 PM

Billy's are $1.59 for regular and $1.89 for pepper jack.

mr crab 09-06-2015 12:34 PM

Think racquetball size. That's dam close

mr crab 09-06-2015 12:35 PM

I still say Charlie T's beats all that stuff near the interstate.
