hanging the 4th shell

Anyone ever do this with anything other than a benelli shotgun?

Deadly D 12-21-2009 08:06 PM

Xtrema 2 can do it

jlincecum 12-21-2009 08:07 PM

i can do it with my xtrema

all star rod 12-21-2009 08:10 PM

No, I think you can do this only on the older SBE models. I have the new SBE2 (got it in 2004)and you cannot do that with them. Also, by brother in law has the SBE1 and he cannot do it with his. He got it a few years before Benelli started to make the SBE2. However, I think Benelli realized that and did the modification. I know of 4 people than have the SBE1 that can put four in...one in the pipe, 2 in the chamber, and the 4th sitting on top of the cradle.....

Also, on the newer models of the SBE you cannot....well let me put it this way.....I know someone who has the SBE in which they got it in 2000 and they cannot put 4 shells.....

Any gunsmith can fix it for you. All it takes is a little filing.

speck-chaser 12-21-2009 11:29 PM

Mine wouldnt do it either, but I played with it all saints game long Sat. night, and Im pretty sure I figured it out. Just need to get a lil epoxy or jb weld, and I will make my final determination.

Why would you need 4 shells in a shotgun? Are you that bad of a shooter?

Can you do 31/2 or just 3" and 23/4". Mine will not do 3 1/2

Shawn Braquet 12-22-2009 04:14 PM

how are ya'll doing this ? on any gun im lost heard of it but never seen it done, where is the 4th shell sitting at?

live to fish 12-22-2009 05:20 PM

Rules clearly state that you can only have 3 shells in your gun for migratory birds. Why would ya'll want to risk a fine for one more shot?

I just don't think the ticket or fine is worth it. And posting about breaking the law on an open forum is not smart at all. Just saying.

Slidellkid 01-03-2010 11:24 PM

I've been checked my game wardens before and they took my gun and shells and loaded the gun for themselves to see how many shells it would hold. I doubt they would care how, or why, a shotgun held more than 3 for migratory birds, but I bet if it did you would get a ticket even if your shotgun had the factory plug installed.

live to fish 01-04-2010 09:39 AM

It is not against the law for your gun to hold more than 3. It's against the law to hunt with more than 3. Catching violators is hard to do. But if they suspect you or if someone reports you they will watch you.

Easiest way to catch violators is when they brag or talk about what laws they are breaking.

Ray 01-04-2010 10:01 AM

When I have been checked, they remove all shells and stick a green rubber water
hose with a piece of elect. tape on it. If the tape goes into the gun, your busted.
They also dragged the bottom of the blind and the pond, with their hands to check
for empty lead hulls. Then the grabbed a hand full of shells from each box in the
blind to check and see if we were hiding lead shells in the bottom of the box.
They move everything in and around the blind, then the boat to see if you are hiding
anything anywhere. They even move your brush around to check for ducks or for
empty shells that held lead shot.
They know what to look for and how to look for it.

Raymond 01-04-2010 12:51 PM

It is called the "Benilli Push" and I resort to it quite often to shoot cripples. First time I was checked in the pipeline canal my gun was new and the warden had to ask me to take all of the shells out of the mag he had loaded.:shaking: I almost told him he should not play with guns he knew nothing about but my calmer side won out.

The times I've gotten checked they just tried putting 3 shells in it to make sure that's all it could hold.
