The shooting doesnt seem justified... although none of us were there to see what happened... But its very simple... Do what your asked to do... and this doesnt happen... dont resist

Can't tell much from the video. Had he complied from the beginning, he would simply be sitting in jail instead of laying in a morgue. Not sure yet if it is justified but I am positive all the idiots I saw protesting on the news, jumping on cars and such is not justified. Lock their azz up and don't let the thugs rule the situation.

Witness said they saw police pull a gun out of the guy's pocket. You can't see what the guy's right hand was doing in the cell phone video. Our liberal democratic governor is making a statement about it right now....I'll wait to see all of the evidence come out before jumping to any conclusions.

These protesters could not care less about the dead man.........it's just an excuse to tear **** up and have a party........of course with no consequences because our Governor is a enabler...........

As a white person, when I hear about a WHITE trash little punk with a rap sheet as long as my arm that got tased, beat or even shot by cops because he was: A.)committing a crime B.) fighting with and/or running from police. C.)cussing/spitting disrespecting and refusing to comply... It DOES NOT make me want to run out in the streets and start flipping over cars and burning stuff just because my skin is the same color as his. I just don't get it. Lets hope Baton Rouge doesn't turn into Ferguson over this

From the looks and sounds of it they noticed ole boy had a gun. He was resisting pretty heavily it seemed. Cops prolly figured that if he broke free it was gonna turn into an ole fashioned duel. I know what I would've done in that situation as the cop or the perp.

You don't want to do that because you aren't an animal. The people that do that are animals. It's like a pack of pit bulls. Once one does something the others join in without thought. Just be ready to deal with the animals if needed. Over the weekend I made a comment on a fb video showing those people acting like animals towards each other. Black guy replied and said "I ain't know nothing about da struggle". What F'n struggle? Free food, free phone, subsidized housing and still manage a caddy and $100+ shoes. What F'n struggle was he talking about? Rabid animals is what they are.

It's all good I saw a report that Barak will be pulling in the DOJ and FBI... The same ones who couldn't find charges on Hillary!!

You can hear one officer say he's got a gun. Hell I always have a gun. You just don't act like a dumbass or you will get shot. When you hide your gun or hide the fact that you are carrying a gun to police you can expect bad things to happen. DOJ will be looking to make an example of that officer I'm sure. Vacation in BR anyone? Leave the traveler checks at home. Bring ammo

This is why I love small town life.

Southwest Louisiana(Lake Charles and Sulphur in particular) is approving and building more and more"affordable housing"(formerly known as the projects) every day. The reason given is these people need somewhere to live. Well IMHO if you build it they will come and they are. Our local leaders seem intent on cutting our own community's throat.... I just don't get it, these leaders are from this area but don't seem to care that they are ruining it forever.

I just watched this video a bunch of times. Here is what I see

7 secs-(officer#1)- "gun, he's got a gun"

9 secs-(officer#2)- draws gun, puts it on Sterlings chest "Fing move and I swear to God"

12 secs-(officer#1)-"He's going for the gun"

13 secs-(officer#2)- pop pop pop

35 secs-(officer#1)- removes gun from Sterling's right front pocket after all shooting is over

****Here is the million dollar question, was he going for the gun? Honestly, I just can't tell from this video. Hopefully the full investigation will answer that.

I just saw a stat where 506 individuals have been killed by police this year. Of the 506 deaths . African american race accounted for 123.

It seems alot of other races are shot too

I was watching KATC at 10 last night to see what was happening in BR.... Very disturbing to see the "party/ protest" that was going on while she was reporting. And it was from both sides, black and white. It's very disappointing to see folks in the background drinking their 25 ounce beers, yelling, smiling for camera time, and just folks walking around the camera acting like it's a big ol party. Look, if you want to protest, that's one thing, BUT, if you are out there to join the others that are there just to raise hell, then that's just plain ignorance. These folks are the ones that don't even know the whole story, just that a man of color was shot by an officer. Once they heard that, they called all of their "boys" to come raise hell with them. Our country is definitely going backwards. It also doesn't help that we have a divisive President that just does what HE wants, how HE wants, and when HE wants, no matter what the outcome is. Just my .02

It's amazing to me how people can protest this. Twice since I started carrying I have been pulled over. Both times I rolled down my window and told the approaching cop I had a pistol in my truck. Both times they said "no problem" and continued on. It's not hard, don't fight them, don't reach for a gun and you don't get shot. I like the Keep it simple stupid route.

The media has already tried the cops in this case, without all the facts. A partial video does not justify a wrong on the police's side. I'm sure the BLM group will say this was just a poor innocent black man doing nothing and was brutally murdered for being black. Yeah Right. I will bet the cops will be justified in using force in the end. Funny just last weekend, I think over 30 blacks were killed by blacks in Chicago, but no mention of that by the BLM group.

I'm a cop I was at work and in class C uniform and someone ( driver on the interstate) called the cops on me , Said there is a black man holding a gun... (Holstered gun) on the interstate.
I was at work watching inmates cut grass on the over pass.
Luckily I had a radio and was able to cancel every body buy by the time I noticed what was happening. They had 4 cops approaching me.

we can see from your perspective you are right about that, but lets say you were not a cop, say you were just the regular upstanding citizen you are, if the cops were called on you and you had a gun the cops tell you get on the ground, what do you do, tell them no and fuss with them? or get on the ground?

Same thing in Alexandria. When I said small town I meant small. Unfortunately I work in Alexandria but I refuse to live there. My little town has less than 500 people and if you don't know the person next to you at the store you can bet your dad knows his dad. Lots of good places like that with good people like that all over our state. We just have to deal with the rest of the crap.

As a LEO what is your professional opinion on the BR shooting after watching the two videos that have come out? I know ya'll have to make spilt second life and death decisions, do you think the guy was reaching for his gun? Would you have done the same in that situation or no?

Never met you but from what I know about you on here you are a great guy. Not saying it did or didn't have anything to do with the color of your skin but there is a lot of stupid, scared people out there when guns are involved. I've run into a few myself.

You and our other non Caucasian friends here are treated with the utmost respect the you damn well have earned and deserve. I am often jealous of your and C's post.

A guy like this Sterling guy is the one that tarnishes all the great people of color who honor and respect themselves, their freedom and their fellow man.

When we see "Black lives matter" running around with their pants on the ground, bottle of Vodka in their hand, laughing and living a party at the expense of a dead man, we don't understand.


When the leaders of the black community take "lead" as opposed to taking advantage of a tragedy they will get listened to and respected.

Soooooo many people exploit this for their own accord, having no real agenda or care in the world about the person.

While NO ONE deserves to be shot down for no cause, No one should get a free pass on a life time of poor, stupid and down right selfish decision making.

HE put himself in that situation when one, he had a gun as a habitual convicted felon, he pointed that gun a innocent people, and three he fought the law over standing down and paying the price for yet another stupid decision.

I feel for ALL of our community, all races, all social economic states, and genders and all sexual preferences.

We have allowed our politicians to absolutely corrupt generations of young people.
