Glad I won't be in Oklahoma this coming week.

Look on the bright side....NO RAIN.

QUACKHEAD 01-03-2010 08:59 PM

Calling for snow and ice for Thursday here. This big front coming in, my duck hole is shut down because the Red River is high with fast currents and has been most of season!:pissed: Only hunted four days this year and it burns my azz:pissed:. Our best hunting is the day before the front or day of depending what time it comes thru.

huntin fool 01-03-2010 09:03 PM

I'm hoping my dad and me go deer hunting saturday and sunday, last day of the season...Might go shoot some woodros as well..idk

southern151 01-03-2010 09:36 PM

This weather makes my unheated shop a real pain the every-place-shivering!!

Salty, I moved my dad down here from Ponca last month. Although it's been pretty cold here, it's nothing compared to back home!

Them single-digits are pretty brutal. The highest I saw last week was 37 but this blast is much colder.

Naw, this ain't normal. It hardly ever freezes in N'awlins but it will this week. One consolation is they are usually on the low side with these 5-day forecasts so maybe it won't be quite as bad.

Salty 01-03-2010 09:55 PM

I'll make it as long as my Directv and internet don't freeze. :smokin:

how bout while we are wishing, maybe 69 degrees.;):D

Ray 01-04-2010 08:37 AM

I think I am going to skip the Fur Festival in Cameron and take in the Boat Show(indoors).
I can fish in 35 deg. weather, but that is about the lowest I wanna go.

longsidelandry 01-04-2010 08:53 AM

WOOO HOOO!! Can't wait to get back to the camp now! I'll take cold weather over hot sticky weather any day of the week. Like they say....you can always put clothes on when it's cold and warm up but you can only take so much off when it's hot, then you're hot and naked.

:shaking: Not me!

huntin fool 01-04-2010 06:24 PM

I'd rather it be summer...I'll go wade in the river or lake chuck to cool off. and fishing is on 99% of the time in summer

You'd think differently if you had to work in that heat. :smokin:

speck-chaser 01-04-2010 07:46 PM

Hey Salty

How far is muskogee from Okmulgee. My son goes to college up there. He left going back yesterday after being home for the holidays. I also have a brother that lives in Sulfur. He said they had a LOT of snow in the past couple of weeks. Time to go fishin. haha

LaAngler 01-05-2010 05:06 PM

hope it doesn't stay too cold too long, may have fish kills

maybe i'll trade my corkys for some zooms again one day

AS if 22 and 20's not cold enough...Dave and Rob say its going to 18. What is the difference between 20 and 18 or does it matter! Anyone know if a fish kill will occur?

What's he in school for up there. OSU Okmulgee is one of the better tech schools in the country.

With that ship channel, I wouldn't think a "kill" would be as likely on Big Lake.

I hear ya Salty, the ship channel is our savior. But I remember my wildlife teacher telling me about a fish kill on, or around Big Lake many years ago. Any of you more "distinguished" gentalmen remember a big fish kill?

Ray 01-05-2010 09:53 PM

I seen a fish kill in the early 90's. There was a hard freeze. No elect. in Cameron
for 4 or 5 days. I hunted ducks a couple days, then went out in the lake to see
what all the commercial fishermen were talking about.
The lake was full of dead Trout and Reds. The LDWF was out there to make sure
there was no one picking them up. The fish were barely alive, wiggling a little bit,
but were going to die.

Montauk17 01-05-2010 10:32 PM

Im sure there will be a fish kill, hard to say how bad,but the fish that are not in deep water will more than likely die. It's going to be a cold son of a gun....there saying wind chills in the single digits. I just went stock up on some fire wood....I live in a older wood frame house so it's gunna be hard to keep it warm without a fire.

meaux fishing 01-05-2010 10:39 PM

Im going hunting friday - sunday i sure hope there are some ducks flying cause its gonna be ridiculous cold

He's going for heavy equiipment. Attending the Komatsu school. Has apprenticeship with Head Enquest and Komatsu. Second time up. He goes for two months at a time. It appears to be a great school and deal.

A buddy of mine is going to school somewhere up there and has that same type of schedule. He goes for 2 months then works for 2 months with Weatherford I believe.
