Salty Cajun Hog Hunt
 

I will begin the planning for a hog hunt w/ dogs to be held sometime after Feb 10th. I have a hunt to attend on Feb 1-3, and I will be running in Florida in a couple of weeks, so that appears to be the earliest I can pull this together.

Someone asked about me videotaping a hog hunt, well no I never have for many reasons, hands are full all the time (beer, hog hobbles, leash, gun) etc. No really, I would love to, but it would be impossible for me or another handler to do it. All we would get would be the caught hog and some dogs tied to trees since we are kind of busy. I will need a dedicated video guy or multiple if ya'll want video.

I will have a "hold harmless" agreement to sign by all in attendance just to keep the lawyers out of it if some crazy SC member decides to go postal. LOL!

We will have the pit in the field again, and we can make a day of it. We will need ATV's , if you don't have one, no problem, you can jump on the trailer to get to the woods. As wet as it has been, we are trying to keep the trucks off the field roads so the farmer doesn't have a coronary. Once we get out there, it's fine. I will also need some shooters, ie., like rabbit hunters, but shooting pigs instead. These guys will be killing the ones slipping out the back door, just like rabbit hunting, only you have little to no warning when they come out the woods.

This is a work in progress, so we will see where it goes. Oh yeah, the hunt does not have to be on my place if someone else has a venue, feel free to jump in.

Sounds like a blast. Keep us posted with details. If I'm home from offshore, I'll more than likely make the trip.

If my schedule lines up, then I would appreciate the chance to participate in a hog hunt with you and the fellas' Fin. ATV, gun, beer and monetary donation for the given chance to make a hunt. Camcorder (broken--dropped it) not currently available. Looking forward to the itinerary.

I might be able to swing that too. Sounds fun. Have ATV side by side, SKS hog killing gun, ice chest, and video camera that I can mount hands free on the ATV

Ok, just back in from work and see we have some interest in the hunt. I will be the first to tell ya'll that it is only as fun as you make it. If you want to sit on your bike and wait for a hog to come to you, then so be it. If you want to get on foot and go to the hogs, you will have fun, but you will be tired by the end of the day! It's all what you make of it. I have yet to have someone tell me they did not enjoy it! And the smiles prove it!

What I am trying to say, not everyone likes fighting the briars and busting a sweat to ge to the bay, that's cool - just sit on the edge of the woods and bust the "sneakers" leaving the woods like rabbits!

As for the camcorders, I think that would be awesome, however, I need to preview all recording before posting to insure I don't show up on them while busting my rear end, or climbing a tree!

man my brother used to go on hog hunts with some of his friends years ago and they would film. It looked like they had a blast. I would love to tag along for a hog hunt
