2 Attachment(s)
here is the new and improved casting platform for the front of my boat. all PVC and two cutting boards from wal-mart. I would like to that fishinpox for the design idea. here's hoping a few reds meet their demise from that spot.
|

does it flex to the sides where you have no upright support??

Based on the size of my feet and my weight, the weight distirbution would be less than 3lbs per square inch.

it may be hard to tell from the pics but there are three T's and two 90's on each side of the platform. there is little to no flex because of the joints. the pvc joints are a really hard plastic so they don't have move at all.

i have been jumping up and I mean literally jumping up and down on it for the last two hours it seems to be fine so far. there is a center support that crosses in the middle under the cutting board so the weight is distributed pretty evenly across the top down the legs to the bottom.

let the haters hate. if i do fall in the wawa i am ok with that. i am almost certain that if i do fall into the water it is not because that platform broke. it will be because i can't stand up.

ist a really good idea, could make it bigger for an aluminum boat with a big deck. That was one thing i wish i had during the summer last year, we spooked so many reds, in clear watter, but we couldn't see em

i am thinking about putting a u-bolt underneath the platform where i will put a ratchet strap through to the lips on the side of my boat. I strapped it down just over the bottom of the platform and it is pretty solid. i think the u-bolt will be more stable and it will act the same way as the turn buckle I think. i also have a rubber shop mat i put down on the boat to keep the platform from slipping.

maybe put some rubber strips on the bottom to keep it from slidding too....That thing is pretty neat good job

thanks adam! it was pretty cheap too! i think all told it was a little under $50. the legs are not glued so it breaks down and stows really nice in my small boat.

if it aint strong enough give me a hollar i got plenty of galv. top rail off of fence we can weld together....its fairly light to
we build everything out of this stuff boat blinds, stationary blinds, dog ramps for boats. people tell me to take there old fences down and i save the toprail for my projects i have a ton of it

it seems like it is strong enough....i would like to build a poling platform to go over the motor so i would be willing to take you up on that if there is something i can do for you.
|
adamsfence |
01-30-2010 10:06 PM |
take measurements or bring your boat we'll do it i have the welding machine and everthing just hit me up we'll do it.

Mediumheavyaction6'6 |

let me think about what i can use for the platform part of it and i will shot you a pm. let me know if there is something i can do to pay you or how much you are thinking it will set you back in labor and materials.
|
adamsfence |
01-30-2010 10:19 PM |
you gonna be my laborer so how much you charge materials are free you might just have to go buy you some bolts or something. i have to take the fence down anyway and the customer pays for that....lol don't worry bout that i like to go fishing in different places you can take me to try it out

Mediumheavyaction6'6 |
01-30-2010 10:22 PM |
that sounds like a hellauva plan to me! what would you say the piping weighs? you think the finished product will be less than 100 lbs?
|
adamsfence |
01-30-2010 10:29 PM |
depends on how strong you want it i have some thin wall and some heavy stuff the thin stuff would probly support you and it is real light i think we could get it close to 100 maybe a little less
