huntin fool 01-31-2010 07:47 PM

Wrong. Thought ya hit gold since ya bought a new boat. lol WRONG. 25. just re-stamp ya motor, get a new calan, you'll be good to go

LaAngler 01-31-2010 07:52 PM

i've heard rumors from more than one person...

they talked about doing it a couple years ago, following sabine nwr 's lead if you will

i didn't think i hit gold, but it would be nice i like fishing out there

"W" 01-31-2010 08:05 PM

All you can have other than a 25 is a pro drive

jchief 01-31-2010 08:05 PM

Hearing the same rumor. They supposedly are looking at it because of the "mud motors".

LaAngler 01-31-2010 08:09 PM

the guy that owns gator tail told me this

the other guy just heard it thru the grapevine, said some ldwf biologist told him

adamsfence 01-31-2010 08:37 PM

they were talking about it for the mud motors but they are always talking about it never know guess will find out

LaAngler 02-01-2010 02:56 PM

called today to the headquarters and THEY ARE going to allow 40 hp this year in the pool

this comes straight from the horses mouth

Ray 02-01-2010 03:01 PM

I hunted gators in there for 6 years with a 40 merc and a 40 yammy. You won't have
any issues unless it gets real shallow like after Hurricane Andrew. I had to get a 5HP
Go Devil on a 20X36 alum. boat to get around the ponds. We hunted the East side,
inside the pool.

LaAngler 02-01-2010 03:44 PM

i've ran a mega in there before no problems. i'm excited about catching some bass.

SULPHITE 02-01-2010 03:45 PM

Can't wait to burn my 40 hp up in there!! LOL!!

Montauk17 02-01-2010 05:04 PM

I love me some Laccasine Pool.

jchief 02-01-2010 08:02 PM

Okay, why the callen off?

Red Devil 02-01-2010 08:04 PM

I had to cool it off!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Water was a tad bit low where I was trying to get to. LMAO

huntin fool 02-01-2010 08:07 PM

Bruce you dont think runnin that steering console will cause much of a problem?? When we run we always having to "clear" the motor, and we can't stop and pick it up, or else you can't get back up on plane.

LaAngler 02-01-2010 08:46 PM

i wont be in there much, when i do i will run the well beaten trails, hopefully the water will be up with all the rain and grass minimal with the freeze.

my old 40 was a tiller and it was good in the marsh, rarely had to clear it.

B-Stealth 02-01-2010 10:13 PM

Get you an Ultra-Jack if he still makes em; they are the real deal.

They told you Yes or No....

Will"E"Fish 02-01-2010 11:12 PM

That's good enough for me . I guess we'll have aireal whip flag's on our boat's so we might get a warning before you crash into another boat.

they said yes

SULPHITE 02-02-2010 10:51 AM

Put a racoon or a squirrel tail on on the antenna!

LaAngler 02-02-2010 11:24 AM

it really won't be much more dangerous than it already was, everybody already had 3 cylinder engines. most all the 40's mercs have 60 carbs now and won't be legal.

Will"E"Fish 02-02-2010 11:28 AM

40 hp in Lacassine pool

Well Icalled and spoke with the Refuge management and verified the statement is true: 40 hp motor's will be allowed in the pool area.In addition I asked about surface drive's and was told 40 hp. also.Hopefully the american press will cover this and publicly feature an article on this subject. Here is the Ph.#for those who have further questions 337-774-5923.:churn:

they have in the past on the mega's

Will"E"Fish 02-02-2010 11:44 AM

The asset of surface drive useage will be my advantage; No what the water level does.

yamahamar 02-03-2010 10:14 AM

A buddy of mine his uncle is a game warden that works the pool and he said they probley will be letting 40 hp in.

cajunsorc 02-04-2010 09:29 AM

Thats great.... Now when do you think they will start concerning themselves with the BASS in the pool?

good question I like the 5 fish limit with I believe it was a 14-20 inch slot, someone correct me because I know I'm wrong but it was something like that. Could tear up the fish at any place at any time. It was a lot of fun for young or old and learning bass fishermen. Took my wife, girlfriend at the time, fishing out there and thats how she learned to bass fish.

Montauk17 02-04-2010 01:31 PM

They dont have a size or limit in the pool anymore?

LaAngler 02-04-2010 01:34 PM

no 10 fish creel no size....

i keep the small ones to give more growing room for the hogs

whatever they do don't ruin it like they did toledo, the pool management does some screwy stuff with the water levels. i think they focus more on birds

Uhhh that might because that was the whole purpose of the refuge in the first place.

true but is there not a medium to be met between the two, I realize they could careless about the bass, but why couldn't conservation be for both?

You are actually right. Talked to the headquarters and it is already done for this year. It is not written in the books, as it is on a trial basis.
Personally I don't like it. There is too many idiots who don't know how to operate a 25 in this area much less a 40. My opinion. :work:

Ive never seen them check the carbs. They usally just check the serial number plate and that tells them what size motor it is.
