core or calais
Which do you prefer and why?

core...
Core...Lighter weight... smaller profile! I don't have one... but just looking at the numbers... Core on top. Ask W! He knows all about them.

Duckster, if you fish out of a boat, there is no better baitcaster available than a Calais.......11 bearings, smooth as silk and casts a mile. However, they are so complicated on the inside with all that "stuff", wading with one would not be wise. Dunk both of 'em in saltwater and see which one freezes up first. I have both reels and I'd choose the Calais any day.

I own both and fish both. That Calais is one smooth reel!!! I use it when I'm staying in the boat. My Core is for wading. Core is obviously lighter reel, easier to hold, etc.....but I wouldn't trade that Calais for anything.
Can't go wrong with either! |

it's cheaper, you can take it apart and service it yourself. lighter is BETTER |
