My brother in law, Seaham, is getting a new 26' Calcutta built. Here are some of the pictures in the factory.
When finished, the builder is bringing it to the Miami Boat Show, then it is coming to it's new home in Grand Isle.

LOL, gonna have a good commissioning trip first. Then it's on.
I sent him a link to the offshore rod post you have up.
I gave him all my old bottom fishing rods. He is almost set up now.

I think it will be twin 115's.
He has two choices, Suzuki's or Honda's.

Jordan 02-23-2010 02:56 PM

suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuzuki !!

LaAngler 02-23-2010 02:57 PM

yep i'd go with the zukes, curious to see how it would ride into a stiff 4' headsea

That sounds kinda under powered......I'd def go zuki as well, but much more power.......

Ray 02-23-2010 03:06 PM

I was wrong. His choices were Etec's or Honda's.
Not sure which ones he chose. I said Honda's would be a lil betta.

LaAngler 02-23-2010 03:07 PM

spending that much money his choices are anything

that's a weird HP restriction on that hull, looks like the demo boat has F150s? maybe they are 115s

wonder what the top end is with the 115s

Jordan 02-23-2010 03:07 PM

honda !! he needs (2) 300's on that thing !!

115's was in the picture

Ray 02-23-2010 03:26 PM

Max HP is 260 HP.
The pictures showed twin Yamaha 115's.

LaAngler 02-23-2010 03:29 PM

my guess is that this boat is designed to compete with the Gause built. inshore/offshore florida style inlet/coastal.

should work good in the gulf, freeboard a little low for the nasty stuff tho.

Ray 02-23-2010 03:30 PM

Overall Length 26’3”
Beam 8’6”
Maximum Draft 13”
Weight 2,800 lbs
Fuel Capacity 126 gallons
Max HP 260hp

Ray 02-23-2010 03:30 PM

I don't like being offshore in bad weather on any boat.

LaAngler 02-23-2010 03:38 PM

nope but cats were designed for that stout 3 foot gulf chop, they eat it up like butter

Ray 02-23-2010 03:57 PM

PERFORMANCE DATA:

WITH TWIN 90-HP MOTORS: Top speed 40 mph. Cruise at 30 mph at 9 gallons per hour. The top speed running on one motor is 25 mph.

WITH SINGLE 200 HP MOTOR: Top Speed 43 mph, Cruise at 30 mph at 10 gallons per hour. Cruise at 20 mph at 5 gallons per hour.

Little more cause of all the electronics they installed.

Sea-Trac Offshore 02-23-2010 08:38 PM

Before it hits the water get tell them to angle the radar dome a couple degrees forward for up and running. Also becareful as the gps antenna is almost in line with radar antenna. Best to get the antenna above the radar antenna as it could knock out the gps

Ray 02-24-2010 07:45 AM

I didn't notice the radar being level. I'll tell him to get them to install a wedge under it.

fun w son 02-25-2010 05:51 PM

calcutta37 02-25-2010 09:25 PM

they make sweet boats we have the 37 calcutta in cocodrie only the second one that sam made hes the guy who builds them i think steve owns calcutta but a prince just ordered a 37 and is coming to cocodrie to take a ride in march some time. Sam has told me the 26 is a sweet riding boat been telling my father in law that i was gonna sell my blazer bay and that we should go in half and get the 26 calcutta decked out the same as the 37 sitting in the shed. had a world cat 27 then searched for a year for a better cat and found calcutta they had our boat in the miami boat show last year. that show is sick

calcutta37 02-25-2010 09:29 PM

Ray 02-26-2010 09:05 AM

He is leaving tomorrow to go test run it in Fla. with the manufacturer and bring it home.

Chris Havoc 03-02-2010 10:47 PM

Whats the word on the boat Ray? Was he satisfied with everything?

Ray 03-03-2010 07:13 PM

Yep, it is sitting in his shed outside Sunset. I am going to go take a look at it next week.
I will brang the camera. I got some offshore fishing equipment to bring him.
