Just throwing it out there......

Well I was just thinking.. Since the tourney had such a great turn out, why stop there? I know a good % of the active posters are from the west butt, whats to say have a tourney or something in the East? Again just wondering if any one would consider that.... ;)

FF_T_Warren 03-15-2010 11:36 AM

I'd definitely go. I'd like to go to the west side tourney but I know nuthing about the area and would really be wasting my time goin to lake Calc.

FF_T_Warren 03-15-2010 11:38 AM

Heck I'd even help set up and get it organized. Even a tourney weekend in grand isle would be awesome

RaginCagin 03-15-2010 11:43 AM

I would love to have on in GI.

FF_T_Warren 03-15-2010 11:45 AM

Yea I know that but still that's a few hundred in gas and stuff to go and on a student salary, I'll have to pass. Not trying to start a war over this. It's just farther than I care to travel and fish but if us east siders wanna put together the same thing in this area for the charity then that'd be great and willing to get in on it. And those who want to travel can and those who don't, don't have to.

FF_T_Warren 03-15-2010 11:46 AM

Yea

Never fished La. much less Big Lake .....................that did not stop me.

I think part of the fishing experience is experiencing new areas.

FF_T_Warren 03-15-2010 11:52 AM

Yea that is a good point, but for some of Easterners that would be hell of a trip.. But like I was saying just throwing it out there to see how other people felt about it......

X100000!

SULPHITE 03-15-2010 11:58 AM

I'd try...might even fish in this one...

Fishmaster 03-15-2010 11:59 AM

And it would really help to spread the word about Saltycajun threw out alot more of Louisiana.....

RaginCagin 03-15-2010 12:10 PM

Nothing like croka soaking in GI:grinpimp: and going out at Arties at night.

LaAngler 03-15-2010 12:12 PM

offshore fish/inshore fish for grand isle/fourchon would be sweeet

wait until the surf turns on for the waders/kayakers also

RaginCagin 03-15-2010 12:17 PM

June would be a great time to have one in GI. You can fish from a boat, wade fish, or fish from a kayak. June-July are probably the best 2 months to catch numbers of fish.

eman 03-15-2010 12:33 PM

Grand isle

G.I. would be a great place to have a tourney.
May /June would be tops. Been fishin down there most of my life.
Only thing about doing a late spring / summer tourney there would be that we probably won't be able to get one of the major marinas for a weigh in site as they have tourneys pretty much every weekend .
But i'm sure i can find us someplace .
that time of year will be great for , yakkers , boaters and waders.
If we get serious about doing a grand isle bungle i will be happy to help w/ contacts and sites and anything else needed.

Doubt it.

Reel Bender 03-15-2010 12:35 PM

If it is in the summer I would try to make it. I don't mind driving to fish,

I will have added 1600+ miles to the truck by time I get home from fishing the tourney.

Shad talked about having an event on the East side as well and we think that Cocodrie might be the better bet as there are a few more options with regards to places to stay - confined, but not nearly as much as GI.

I also threw out a Border Wars tourney to be held on Sabine as a TX/LA event.

We'll figure something out, but Shad/W definitely need to be involved in any future event planning.

More places to stay... Yes. But everybody in Cocodrie runs out towards the gulf during the summer. Also not many places for yaks to fish around there for trout at least, and waders would be out the picture also just a couple things to consider.....

Is it October YET? 03-15-2010 02:19 PM

The only problem with having a tourney in the east is the winning weight would be more than the 9 something that was had last weekend. Then all of the west wussies would cry because then it would be a proven fact that the east is better. :)

I claim neither east or west so im not biased but the winning weight was like 14.03 or something...thats pretty solid with those conditions where ever you are

eman 03-15-2010 03:24 PM

9 lb

3 fish for 10 lbs is doable in G.I. in may /june.
1 fish 5 lbs is doable in may/ june.
As long as you know how to do it.
3 fish 13 lbs is doable on croakers.

LaAngler 03-15-2010 03:25 PM

maybe we can do a snapper division :smokin:

Are the big trout holding in the same areas as the schoolies? Cause I got my spots just never catch any hogs over there...although i dont usually croaker soak either

"W" 03-15-2010 03:56 PM

I think we should have one at the Dock marina in Slidell on Lake P...I know the guy who would let us set up shop there!!!! Lake p is a good place late summer!!! I think we will look into making this our next place to fish.....

Or Galveston Bay. You west side gals need to come to GI. I know nothing of GI fishing wise, except every time I have ever been I never had to worry about her teething.:)
