My personal best in Lacassine!!!!
 

Fished this morning out of the ole kayak and ended up with my personal best bass!!!!!!! She went 6.8

I caught 5 other bass weighing 1lb-2.5lbs and missed some really good ones.......prolly went 4+.

This fish beats my other best (also caught in lacassine) which is 5.15.

You eating it or mounting it...please say mounting it. nice fish!

Thats a good question...do they get uncomfortably close at times??

I did run up on 2 small ones this morning.......dont know who was more scared me or them dang gators, cause i never saw them until they took off and made a bigazz splash.

Gator mating season starts next month so i got to fish it with the yak as much as possible now. But man is it nice fishing lacassine in a yak, i got places i never dreamed of getting with a boat.

I would hate to run up on one 8+ feet though.

They swim up to boats. Just curious. If they start swimming to where your lure hit the water, might as well leave.

Had one about 9 chase me last year in my 'rogue. This thing ran of the bank, and chased me down the canal. never push poled that fast in my life.
Normally i ignore them. But when it's 7 ft+ and im in the 'rogue and its chasing me, i roll out

Had big gator come off the bank & come to my boat & she would swell up. Made 2 trips down that bank & she did it both times, Must have had eggs or littles close by. I was in my bay boat at that.

ive had them follow at a distance, but they are just curious, ONLY time you ever have to worry about gators is when your close to the bank and they are nesting.

thats the only time they are dangerous

Yep Unit D, been wanting to try that pool.......and the kayak made it even better, there's just something about being close to the water and being able to stay almost silent.

its the section on the left when you are driving to the 2 east boat launches..........where the bridges are down the levee. Also where ALOT of people fish from the bank.

I have been thinking trying it out for a while.
Has that part of the pool produced any really good ones?
And/or does it produce good numbers?

unit D produces some solid fish, just have to battle the gators.

The day i caught this fish i also caught 5 others....all solid fish and missed 4 or 5 due to the thick grass.

I just got back from fishing it again this morning and caught 5 and missed 4 in the grass again........as soon as the wind picked up it got tougher to fish but thats anywhere you go, but i gave up early this morning because of the wind.

As far as the gators go i have really only seen them close to the canal that runs on the outer edge of the pool.........i'm fishing closer to the middle of the pool.

the ones i've seen in unit d are ones close to the road/canal. like you said.

Slick, where you been hiding? When we going to the reserve? I'm a let you go at one them gators like a predator. We will need some cool ones to work up that courage.:D
