Anybody use one of these?

Really thinking about getting one for that price.

B-Stealth 04-04-2010 06:34 PM

Buddy has one, very smooth long casting reel when it was new. I'm not sure how it holds up to saltwater. They came a long way from the 5500 C.

Ray 04-04-2010 07:00 PM

Shellman on here has one.

shellman 04-04-2010 07:37 PM

Great reel very smooth...

I personally think most of your higher end reels(shimano,abu,ect....) will last as long as you take care of them, a little freshwater bath and oil go a long way. Negligence is a reels worst enemy:work:

I hate when people complain about a reel not lasting, but you ask them if they cleaned it as much as they should and the answer is usually no.

Ray 04-04-2010 07:48 PM

Reelman told me to spray a light coat of about 1/8 simple green to 7/8 water on the reels and wipe them down. He said too much water can mess up the inside of the reel.

Micah 04-04-2010 07:50 PM

I'm gonna try that out Ray.

I read somewhere to never hit the reel with high pressured water cause it would push the salt into the reel

No they did not jack up the retail from what i can tell, i checked several sites for the price and most had it losted for $229.99. I got this one for 129.99 plus shipping which was a $10 flat rate.

$130 vs 3 x that. :smokin:

drftwd 04-04-2010 11:03 PM

If you dont have one then get one. Best reel i have ever used and that is a great price. Pick up two...one for me and my dad last year for $229 plus tax each. I will take the pepsi challenge against any other reel on the market. :D

idunno 04-04-2010 11:10 PM

That is a great reel. The drag on those is more than double any other low profile baitcaster out there and there aren't many out there with the same line capacity. They are supposed to be made for saltwater. My dad has 3 and just ordered another one. The retail is definitely $229.99 and you can find them for less on e-bay or something, but not ever this low. There are several really good reviews on this reel standing up to saltwater and handling small marlin and other really big fish for this size reel.

drftwd 04-05-2010 04:58 PM

Just ordered another one for the collection.....cant beat that price:smokin:

Coastal's break too easy. Especially when wife wraps her cork rig around it on the backcast and slings it 20 yards.:pissed:

nothing but Allstars for me

all star rod 04-06-2010 05:20 PM

Wish Shimano would run a 45% off special! Hell, I would be happy with a 20% off deal! I guess they "SHIMANO" does not need to!
