Enjoy it , They will probably do away w/the spring season next year.

RaginCagin 05-23-2011 12:39 PM

I went the opening day. It was tough bc they were all on the ground and our woods are solid plamettos so the ones I shot were shot when they were spooked by me and ran up a tree. I knocked down 6 but only found 2. It was great weather in the low 60's but it's to thick this time of year and I was paranoid about snakes the entire time while searching for the downed squirrels.

evidrine 05-23-2011 01:18 PM

Thats right, might have to break out the snake chaps.

mstulb 05-23-2011 01:27 PM

Yea we do work on our blinds every sring, on the red river in Colfax,LA.That is were we hunt fox squirrels every fall . Rattlle Snakes are thick, man I hate em, they are everywhere, and since we flooded a bunch of timber years ago the mocasines are equally as bad. I am looking for them every October on the ground sure it is worse mid-may.

fishfinder 05-23-2011 03:09 PM

Grab a pair of chaps for me while you are thinking about it!

evidrine 05-23-2011 03:10 PM

Bout time you spoke up! I will see what I can do.

You could limit out in 5 minutes behind my shop! Got a new crop recently and them suckers are everywhere! I even keep the grass mowed so, they'd be easy to find!

Had two get in the shop already and didn't fare too well. I can't afford what they could do to a vehicle in a weekend's time!:shaking::redface:

fishfinder 05-23-2011 03:34 PM

Thanks!

fishfinder 05-23-2011 03:37 PM

If you dont want the neighbors to know set a few snares. Silent but deadly.

specktator 05-23-2011 04:19 PM

My place in St. Francisville is covered with squirrels, but its the little cat squirrels. I haven't squirrel hunted in years cause I am bow hunting in October and don't wanna spook the deer. And come May, I am too deep in chasing specks!
