Reds & Trout!

Down In Dularge!

Picked up a nice crew from the Chateau De Ryan camp on Bayou Dularge Saturday morning. I had 2 couples from California that went to school with Ike & Coogan Ryan. The guys treated them to a night of bowfishing with Capt John Verrett(The real deal when it comes to bowfishing at night for redfish) followed up by a trip with me in the daylight hours. Our first stop was very slow due to no tidal movement to speak of. No wind and the gnats were out in full force! My California guests were not too excited about the 'flying teeth'! The tide finally started moving and the trout got things going pretty quickly. However, the gnats were winning the battle and we left the scene for open water and less gnats. The crew wanted to try their hand for some redfish and they had a blast reeling in big bronzebacks that were in the gnat-free zone! By this time they were not thinking about trout anymore. Funny how most out of state clients react to catching line stripping south Louisiana redfish!! We called it a day around 11:00 as we returned back to the camp with the winds howling 15-20 mph. A good day with some great folks who really were surprised by our great fishery. Good luck fishing!
