New cooler?

I have been trying to decide for a while now on what I want to do for a cooler in my boat. I need a 60=70qt for a seat in front of my console and I have been looking real hard at the Engel coolers but I can't make myself spend the money. Are the coolers like that worth the money? I would be using it for more than the boat as well.

Are they worth the money?? No way in hell a cooler is worth that much.

But i sure do love my Pelican and K2

Look at RTIC. They are 1/2 the price of Yeti.

Also, look at the Igloo super tough models. All hinges are SS. Recently got one on Amazon 120 qt for $140 with shipping.

RTIC 65 qt. Wide enough for two people to sit on and under 200 bucks.

I had one of these Igloo super tough. It wouldn't hold ice for a half day. Went back to Coleman. Now I have an RTIC and love it. Caught the 45 on sale for $120 and couldn't pass it up and glad I didn't.

I find it keeps ice just a long as the normal type coolers. I like it since the hinges and latches are SS. I have a 35 qt Yeti and main reason I like these high end coolers is because the hardware is a lot more durable. If you are (using it) opening and closing the ice chest lid all day I find they pretty much all keep ice about the same.

I am kicking my self in the you know what for not getting a 65QT RTIC when they were on sale on their wed site several weeks ago but I did get the big Bag-40 which I rather than the Yeti Hopper.

I may have gotten a bad one. You could latch the lid on that thing, stand it on end or lay it on side and pour the water out faster than pouring from a bucket. Zero seal on that thing. It's in my shop being used for storage now lol.

Apparently you did or maybe I got the only good one. So if you fill a Coleman with water and latch it then turn it on its side No water leaks out?

noodle creek 04-02-2017 05:11 PM

I'm not sure why anyone would buy a yeti at this point. RTICS are the same thing for half the price.

Yes, if you're going to be opening and closing an ice chest all day, they all hold ice about the same. Once the hot air gets in, it's all downhill from there. Some of the cheaper ice chests with the stainless hinges and hatches are an improvement, but then the plastic around them seems to break. The cheaper ice chests are lighter and I am a fan of that, but in the end they still don't hold up as well.

Water leaks out naturally, but not like pouring from a bucket. I actually compared after lifting the igloo out of my boat and spilling on myself lol.

Are y'all buying these local? I did a quick search on flea bay and they were a little pricey there. I'm going to search some more.

Broke Down 04-02-2017 07:34 PM

On their site they are much cheaper, not bad. $200 for a 65 quart.

Broke Down 04-02-2017 08:13 PM

Well.....cancel that idea, sold out and I can't search a dealer. About right...haha.

cajun bill 04-02-2017 08:34 PM

Coleman Xtreme. You won't be sorry.

I saw somewhere yesterday that they should be back in stock within a week, but can't remember exactly where I read that. You can usually find the 65 qt's on sale for about 169-189 bucks free shipping from various online dealers. I'm waiting to buy a 65 for my boat as well.

specknation 04-02-2017 10:31 PM

Go to Ebay and search techniice coolers, made better than yeti and they have a 47 qt and a 63qt. either one will come in around $160.

Crawl79 04-03-2017 08:37 AM

RTIC 65 fits my boat perfectly and adds to the deck space of my 20' boat. Got one of the first batches to be sent out the door from RTIC and no issues what so ever with it.
