Taxes

Is there a certain day of the week that the IRS deposits taxes?
I filed on 19 Jan and it says that my esitmated direct deposit date is 07 Feb. However, I have still not recieved my taxes...

meaux fishing 02-03-2012 05:23 PM

Today is the 3rd

jaclyn.renea 02-03-2012 05:26 PM

I know. But I thought I remembered that taxes were only direct deposited on Fridays...

Not sure but it usually takes 2-3 weeks once you send info in. My wife is an accountant so she does ours on Turbo Tax and e files them or something of that nature. She already sent them in since I am getting a refund....However, I still paid way too much!:pissed:

redaddiction 02-03-2012 05:27 PM

I filed on the 16th and i got my refund today. I think you are on the cutoff point for the next refund date. Go to www.irs.gov and check the "where's my refund" link.

jaclyn.renea 02-03-2012 05:28 PM

I couldn't agree more. It's a rip off to file taxes.

You gave the government an interest free loan, they appreciate it.

I know but a few years ago I got burned....i rather get money back than pay. however, I like to break even. we just adjusted our pay status with our jobs....regardless it is all going to a pool anyway which is more of a waste to me..

Charitable donations and charitable contributions are the way to keep from having to pay in. Clean out the closets and shops and garages and give it to the Salvation Army.

Yes there is, not sure what it is off-hand. It definitely helps on the taxes though.

sears 02-04-2012 01:29 AM

Didn't Mitt Romney write off over $1,000,000 he gave to the Mormon Church?

fishinpox 02-04-2012 10:53 AM

Ask chicken that's what he does for a living

Gerald 02-04-2012 02:51 PM

Retire and don't make a lot of money........

Then you don't have to give any to Obama or support the under-employed.

scott craft 02-04-2012 02:52 PM

It's different for cash versus donating clothes and such to a charity. I know there is a limit on donated goods you can claim, but I don't know if money has a limit.

I wish I didn't get any yet. Regardless I always report the earnings even if I don't receive a 1099 for the job

southern151 02-04-2012 07:48 PM

I'll be reporting more than what I've received so far. I don't want "them" after me ever again! Once was plenty!!!

The limit is generally 50% of your AGI (adjusted gross income on your tax return) except for certain rare exceptions in which a 30% or 20% limit may apply. Excess contributions maybe carried forward to future tax years.
