Heads up

Got a tropical storm out there fellas. TS Debby is lurking out in the gulf, showing it coming this way. Sucks, supposed to be going to New Orleans for a conference Monday. Gonna have to watch this one.

Going towards Texas not LA
.....and long way from new Orleans
We have high pressure keeping us out of the zone

So does Tejas. Hurricane Center is totally unsure about this one.

Yeah...Miami, FL.

"W" 06-23-2012 07:56 PM

we have a real strong high pressure on us so it hitting LA is like a 2% chance .... The only way it would hit LA is if something pushed the high east and it came up the back side of the high and followed it up

Which is real unlikely .....high is weaker on south texas and south Fl so following that line is 98% likely

But its weather so anything can happen

"2% chance"

There's a chance.

Salty 06-24-2012 11:33 AM

Appears that this would be worth more than a "2% chance". Looks like SE Louisiana is gonna get a hurricane.

A tropical storm warning was issued for the Louisiana coast from the Pearl River west to Morgan City, excluding the city of New Orleans and Lake Pontchartrain. Residents were warned to expect storm conditions within 36 hours.

Salty 06-24-2012 11:45 AM

As of right now, looks like landfall around Morgan City Thursday morning. I don't think they've got a handle on where this thing will eventually end up.

Bluechip 06-24-2012 11:50 AM

So does that mean we only have a 2% chance???

"blocking high"

Salty 06-24-2012 12:07 PM

Looks like Corpus Christi is in the "2%" range now "cents" the models that forecasted a western track forecasted it to turn west 24 hours ago.

It's very possible. The graphic I posted shows it moving NE, but, at 5mph anything could happen. I just don't think the models would miss it that far, tho.

Headed to Orange Beach in the morning. I like the new track they have this thing going. Being stuck in a condo with a 2 and 4 year old for a week would be bad for my stress level.

He said it was hitting Tejas. If it continues on it's current track.....it'll be totally opposite from what he initially stated. But then...he changes stories hourly.

Smalls 06-24-2012 05:17 PM

Oh I know. My point is, "UU" was right. Atleast at this point on time...

Well, it's not over yet, but, there's also 48 more states in which it won't make landfall. You said it would go west. If it hit's the Florida panhandle...it will go "100%" opposite of what you said. But then...you also think Hurricane Rita should be ranked ahead of Katrina.

Rita was worst than Katrina ....just because were smarter on the west side to leave .....and have zero deaths which made for zero ,media stories

Sorry were not the welfare side

They both made landfall as cat 3 both were cat 5

Rita storm surge was greater than Katrina

Only thing was Cnn,fox and NBC loved to hype it up with democrats on roof tops because they were too stupid to leave a soup bowl

hankscke123 06-24-2012 06:14 PM

I agree 100 percent with w.

Katrina was just as intense as Rita and about 3 times bigger. Rita affected 2 or 3 Louisiana coastal parishes...Katrina hit 3 states. If you think Katrina only did damage in Chocolate City...you should'a drove across Washington Parish the next day. And we're 150 miles from landfall....not on the coast.

Interesting that you include yourself ("were") among the "smart" people in southwest Louisiana.

And Rita smashed from bay town to Vermillion bay

O you didn't see that on CNN sorry we

Salty 06-24-2012 06:52 PM

Katrina would have left little impact on New Orleans had it's surge not stressed the levee system.

Total damage estimates:

Rita - $12 billion
Katrina - $120 billion +

We had sustained winds of 80-90 mph here for 8-9 hours and, like I said, we ain't nowhere near the coast.

Lmao. Do u know why Katrina cost 120billion one word FEMA

Do you know how much money was giving out to re located the animals from Zoo to zoo

You take out the wasted money just on New Orleans and your less than 10billion

Do you really know what it cost us tax payers to relocate the zoo
