That is why we are doing a family weekend. New Orleans aquarium and zoo for the kids. Then next weekend is fathers day. Watch trout.

Going to work on Sunday. Really want to make a trip tomorrow. Will have my eye on the weather.

Beaches were too rough managed to catch couple small reds on Saturday. Friday night we fished the bridge with live shrimp ended up with 20 keepers and 26 on Saturday night. We got our bellies full and fish in the freezer, I think it was a pretty good weekend.

Nice job! I just bought a kayak and planning on going Saturday. hopefully the weather is better, I've never fished the bridge at night but I hear its worth going, I rather get some sleep.

MattMigues 06-11-2012 07:27 AM

It's worth it if you have live shrimp, we were the only ones onsinsantly catching, I was back at camp by midnight both nights.

fishfighter 06-11-2012 07:42 AM

nothing wrong with that, nice catch

Garfish 06-11-2012 01:54 PM

when you say fish the bridge are you talking about the old bridge that is all broken up how long of a net do you need to get the fish cause the bridge is kinda tall just trying to get info cause i would like to make a weekend trip and i know my wife wont go wade the beaches with me so i think fishing the bridge at night would be more her style

MattMigues 06-11-2012 02:19 PM

Yes the old bridge on Bridgeside side, I have large crab drop nets that I grabbed after I lost a mule but for the most of em I just all in one motion sling them on to bridge. They were biting pretty fast from 9:30 to 11. I'm thinking on weekdays you can have your choice of what light you'd like to fish. I see lots of guys that obviously go often have little carts set up so they don't have to carry the weight. I planned on surf fishing but conditions wouldn't allow and after seeing what I caught friday I visited friends that we ran into and waited for the sun to set then it was on. Also we were the only ones with live shrimp and only ones catching that I saw.
