Prien 2/20/16

Made my first trip of the year and made it out to Prien with my brother in our kayaks. I made my way to the PPG turn around and started trolling the south end of the island near the ship channel. Immediately started catching. Only issue is you had to be moving for the trout to bite. When I would catch one I would drop anchor in order to try and fish close to the spot where I caught the fish. Tried every speed possible and every depth possible but couldn't get a bite unless I was trolling at a speed of 1.4-2 mph. Went back and forth for a while and by 9 I had 10 trout in the kayak. Then had a few baits come in REAL close, one asked me where they could soak some shrimp, they seemed like they didn't know what they were soon and apologized for coming in too close so I pointed them to a direction just off the channel. Well the other jack@** ran just off step 10 feet from my brother right between where we were fishing. Never said sorry or anything! Well that killed that bite right there so I switched areas and trolled near the Axiall plant to finish off my limit before noon. The fish weren't big but still a good size for the fryer. The smaller fish were caught near the plants. The picture shows what we ended the day with between both of us so the internet police don't think I caught over my limit.

Early I was using green hornet on an 1/8 oz lead head but had to switch to a heavier lead head once the current picked up. Ended the day throwing the lemon head and ultraviolet matrix shad on the golden eye 1/4 oz jig head. Hope the rest of the year produces fish like this!
