Semi Cleaver
I talked to Mr. Danny here and he'd mentioned Yamaha OEM black painted semi cleaver is a great prop in many applications. I'm running a 10.5 x 13p NREB and Stielleto Triad II. I read that I'd almost need to go up 2 pitches beings the props I'm running have moderate cup. So the smallest semi cleaver i can get is 10.25x14p, I'm just looking for some guys that know more about prop designs should I go with 14P or 15P?

tell em what you had and what you had in mind and maybe they have a better idea to get you the performance you are looking for. |

14 would prolly run good on it.

14 on a stock 50 will turn right at 5700-5800. Sprinkle a little magic dust in that motor and it will turn that 14 about 6200. When I'm done porting a 50 Tohatsu, they normally turn a 15 pitch Yamaha 6200 loaded.. Tohatsu and Yamaha are not the same port mapping.

Friend of mine let me borrow a 14p yamaha prop. I had 3 people 18 gallons of fuel 2 batteries and ran right around 5400rpm's. Good mid range and hole shot was pretty good also. It seems to be as fast or faster than my stiletto triad. I'm impressed to say the least.

You might experiment with raising the motor with the Yamaha prop, 1/4" at a time. The Yamaha blade material looks thin, but, I have one that is 20 years old and is used in the marsh every year. Yamaha uses some superior stainless to build that prop. Same props we used on our inflatable raceboats in 99 and 2000. We would buy 16 pitch Yammies and have them raised to 18 pitch props.
These are inflatable tunnel boats that weigh about 125 pounds, with tiller 50's on them. We had a co-pilot to act as trim, I had a 15 year old co-pilot that was fearless. He would sit on the transom down the straights and slide to the front to set the boat to turn. All I ran was Yamaha props pitched up. D |
That some fast little boat!

Gonna need cup on mine. Ran it today on the 18' tunnel and it slips with very little trim. Best I got was 36.8 on gps. Then try to get more trim and she'd slip

This one only got 5300 with just me in it full fuel and 2 batteries. I'm going to try to get the rpm up by raising it a little at a time. Top speed was 33.6 and any trim passed parallel with keel it wants to ventilate. But that said the overall performance is best this far I'm thinking picking it up 1/4-1/2" will get me running perfect. |
