Just got my new ar today, whats yalls opinion on magpul open sights vs red dot scope, it cam with red dot but plan on shootin hogs at no more than 100' on my property, got teo 30rders and just seeing what yall like, i got aks, 270s, 7 mags but for you ars what set up do you like....str8 brush gun?

southern151 05-09-2013 08:18 PM

Open sights and, I got all the mags you could ever want.

southern151 05-09-2013 08:22 PM

Promag aluminum flip-up sights. Light and durable. Food down for easy storage.

Southern pm me price on mags and sights bro if you dont mind...

southern151 05-09-2013 08:38 PM

Sights are at Cabelas and, I think Academy. I paid $75 for front and $75 for rear.

The Magpul sights hold zero surprisingly well. I would want a larger caliber for a hog gun. Red Dots are great if you get a good one, I haven't seen a cheap on that can hold zero yet.

Please don't buy anything promag...

What's wrong with th promag sights? I haven't used my ar a bunch yet but, like the sights. Did I miss something about em. I don't want to lead someone wrong. Please enlighten me.

Troy battle sights would be my choice

Pro mags tend to have issues just do a quick google search on promag ar sights not saying they ar bad just some lemons...their mags are so so...I wouldn't have pro mag sights or mags for my shtf gear but for farting around shooting...ok

ProMag has very poor quality control. They have a couple of good items in their line up, one being their 15-22 mags, and some of their mag loaders. Their sights are pretty poor at holding zero mainly due to the fact that the mount is over sized and can/will wobble.

Eotech. Swing by this weekend and check mine out. I freaking love it. Zombie stopper.

I just put a Nikon p-223 fixed 3x scope on my AR and really like it. Got it off eBay brand new for like $180. I almost went red dot, but I wanted to be able to reach out and touch something if I needed to. Used my magpul iron sites for a while and they do hold zero well.

If I don't sell my current AR I am going to outfit it with a Burris combo - 4X magnification scope + red dot. These are great combos for the price.

EoTech 512..... It's a bit heavy, but that SOB is durable. As far as sights, I would go with Yankee Hill. Brush gun or battle rifle, outfit it with the best your budget will allow. Buy once and cry once.
