calcasieu river 2-3-18
 

10 small white perch caught in 5 feet of water fishing 2-3 feet under cork with shiners. all males fanning the beds. fish are about to spawn. I have never caught white perch this time of year on Calcasieu but going to keep trying. it was not very good weather so only fished a couple spots. next warm day off will fish em hard and see wat happens. bite was very slow. water not clear but not chocolate milk either. 6" clarity. Once they drain the fields into bayou serpent its all over for awhile. Speaking of serpent I hear u can catch em there during spawn. good luck

well first warm day off looks to be a wet one and have had almost 3 inches of rain in the last week and river is up a little. and getting muddy again. everyone always says fish still have to eat so I'm hoping for a window break in the rain to give em a try tomorrow.

too much rain here! been raining for a week and suppose to rain another week. cant go another 7 off wishin I was fishin! headed north for Toledo Bend in am. Suppose to be nice up there Monday and Tuesday. have not been since 2012 and will post how it goes.
