Seas in Venice Sunday 7/24?

Can someone give me an idea of what to expect this weekend out of Venice? I am currently working in Roswell, NM and am flying into New Orleans on Friday and going Tuna fishing on Sunday. Thanks in advance for the response.

Waaaay too early to predict with any accuracy. To monitor forecasts go here:

http://marine.weather.gov/MapClick.p...1#.V40FNvkrKUk

At the bottom of the page under additional forecasts and information click on 'forecast discussion' for more detail on information used to predict the conditions and factors that may change it. Bottom line is, this time of year, thunderstorms are a bit unpredictable and seas can go from 1-3 to 7-9' in a matter of 20-30 minutes. I was fishing off Grand Isle this past Friday in 1ft or less over 1.5ft ground swell. Thunderstorms moved in from the north and it rose to 3-4' avg. with a few over 5' in less than 20 minutes....and the wind did not seem to be over 30 knots. On Thursday, my father was off of South Pass about 50 miles out when conditions went from flat seas to 7-9' with lightning/T-storms in less than an hour. Be prepared with foul weather gear regardless of forecast conditions and don't get too riled up if the guide suggests cancelling a trip.

Seeing as how I only go to Venice one time a year and do not really know all of the offshore data websites, I was looking for someone a little more versed than myself to give me a little info about the weather offshore this weekend. Thanks for the tip about the internet........a$$hole! Thanks to all the others for the help. I appreciate it.

You asked about the sea conditions.

woundedduck 07-22-2016 01:07 PM

Well. I meant to ask about the offshore weather as a whole. Wave height, wind, etc. Sorry about the jerky comment. I was having an off day. I apologize.

Bring some rain gear
