Calctsieu river / I-10 railroad bridge

Im new to the Westlake area and was curious as to how to get through the I-10 railroad bridge on the Calcasieu river. Is there a certain VHF channel, phone number, etc needed or do you just pull up to it and they open it?

Bridges use channel 13. They can typically see you but 3 long horn blasts also signals that you want to pass through. Being new, expect long waits at the bridge. If a train is anywhere near that zip code you will have to wait until it passes. So it feels like they don't see you but in reality they are just waiting for a far away train to pass.

Most fishing boats can pass under [on the East side] the bridge support structure. When there is a north wind ***** I should have said SOUTH wind] **** and hide tide..... you might not be able to get under the structure.

Go very slow...?. the first time to check if your boat fits under the structure.

No, you won't make it under right now. He was talking about normal water levels.
