Heberts will put you about mid lake.

There is a boat launch down Hwy 27 south of Hackberry on the canal that leads to West Cove. This is about 1.5 miles south of the Sabine Refuge headquarters.

There are no boat launches "on the south end" of Big Lake.

There is one on the West side of the Cameron Ferry too. Holly Beach side.

I was not sure if this launch was useable.

It's useable but in very bad condition. I wouldn't recommend anyone to launch there. No docks. Dangerous getting in and out of boat at landing. Lots of debris in the water around backdown. Launch at the jetties. Very nice launch.

depending on how far you need to travel you could launch at calcasieu point very nice launch or if that is too far there is a boat launch at the ferry and it is a public one and its free so hope this helps you out

Supposedly Hog Island Gully will open in a couple of weeks too. That's just north of West Cove launch.
