New shotgun

In the market for a new shotgun what should I get?

LPfishnTIM 09-04-2011 07:29 AM

price range?

cajunman7925 09-04-2011 07:43 AM

Dont really have one

Dink 09-04-2011 07:45 AM

I picked up a Remington waterfowl edition friday for $500a on sale and no tax. I hunt the marsh, so didn't want an auto

LPfishnTIM 09-04-2011 08:08 AM

I like overunders which can be pricey, but can have two different chokes which is one advantage over a pump or semiauto and I like a mossberg 935 waterfowl edition, that just me the mossberg will last a long time and its not too expensive. I'm not a remington fan but the 870 is one dependable and affordable pump. I might buy a new overunder before duck season starts but my mossberg 500 is still kickin and knockn dem down soo, I might save my money.

extrema 2 if price is no option

Pump - Benelli Super Nova
Auto- Benelli Super Vinci, or Super Black Eagle II or Exterma II (Which ever of 3 fit you best)

bjhooper82 09-04-2011 10:25 AM

Extrema II or Benelli SBE II or Super Vinci thats my top 3

fishaholic82 09-04-2011 01:10 PM

Super Vinci hands down! As soon as I have an extra $1600 I'll be buying one. Intertia drive and extremely easy and quick to tear down to clean makes it my top choice.

What ever fits you!!!! Look & feel all of them! Don't pick up the 1st & say thats it just because that's what my buddy shoots, being accurate is all about being comfortable. Check for accessories like shims to lengthen or shorten length of pull, shims to change comb angle, alot of the new guns are coming with these.

Im a big mossberg fan. Just feels right. Thats what it will come down to in the end.

simplepeddler 09-04-2011 07:29 PM

I think on the information provided.....I would go Krieghof or Perazzi.
The Bosis is nice too.

Dink 09-04-2011 08:41 PM

Some of y'all got some deep pockets!!!

Hopedale Hustler 09-04-2011 08:58 PM

Super nova or 870 supermag if your going with a pump...I'd go with a super black eagle II if u got the money cause it's the best of the best...but if u want a affordable semi auto that are great guns look at the stoeger model 2000 or mossberg 935 both are great guns

Kenner18 09-04-2011 09:21 PM

There is only one gun to buy... Browning Maxus..
I wouldnt shoot anything else period.

jldsc 09-04-2011 09:25 PM

If you know someone with the remington versa-max, go shoot it..Im hardcore berretta but was very impressed with the versa-max after shooting and my dad bought one also..not sure on how long they will take duck hunting abuse but pretty sweet gun..be me extrema II

noodle creek 09-04-2011 09:56 PM

I guided 59 days last year. i've seen just about every gun on the market, and if you want a pump the 870 and nova's are about the same, both being good. From first hand experience on automatics, i would not buy a benelli ever. 50% of the ones i get in my blind do not work right, and thats saying a lot, being that the benelli's are very popular. The extrema's seem to be much better guns, along with browning maxus and browning silver. The winchester super x3's are also good guns. this is just what i have seen first hand having guided 59 days a year each of the last 2 seasons

Stoeger recently came out with an auto that shoots 3.5" shells...i believe it is called the b3500. Plus they are interia operated like a Benelli. Matter of fact stoeger is owned by the same company as Benelli....gun sells for around 700 bucks.
