Just bought new waders yesterday.

i hunt the marsh and if you come with me you don't even need waders i pull up to the blind and step out.

and we covered up with birds talked to a biologist at rockefeller and he said we holding more birds than the refuge, and also holding more birds than little pecan. As of saturday i couldn't even guess a number of birds all i know is that at 11 o'clock we could've killed a 3 man limit they were just covering us up in our pond.

I wanted to go with yall on Saturday but I went and did the husband and dad thing and then got an invite for a dove hunt.

that's no problem. It didn't take us long you would've freaked at all the ducks we got back there. We jumped up about 300 grey ducks and teal out the pond. I was wearing a bright orange hoodie and when we got done we sat in the blind and had groups of teal and grey ducks cover us up i mean coming in and lighting in front the blind at about 15 yards. Even had a flock of about 30 widgeon come in. It's unreal you need to ride and check it out. I planned on taking pictures saturday, but forgot the camera at the house. Tried to take pictures with my phone, but they were really crappy.

I'm hunting the wax. I hear it's been loaded too, minus the low water. But I also just stumbled on an amazing wood duck hole within walking distance of my girlfriends place.

Ill blast some for yall during youth weekend.. Last year to hunt youth.

you can come sunday with us to brush the blind, but you can only shoot em with a camera.

3 days and a wake up. Wood ducks are thick on the river. Most I've seen in several years.

i was so pumped up after we got off the phone last night with all the duck season talk i had to watch a duck commander dvd. This will be the longest 10 days of my life.

I WAS pumped. I got totally screwed with water shortage. its non existent and our relift is broken. trying not to think about it. makes me miserable. theres always fishing!!

well we set it up this year for mainly ducks. buddy let the field get outta control sooo we mowed down a pothole in the middle of marsh.... NO food for them to eat. we held water for teal season. and it all went away. this blind has no food to offer specs. would've been decent with water. ITS DUST! I might just try and do the spec thing. will be hard to compete with surrounding rice fields and plowed fields.

This front coming through tonight is gonna push some more birds into the area!!!! Friday morning is showing temps in the low 40s and high 30s. Front dont last long though....another one coming through next week as well.

i will tell you this i've killed many of specks hunting in tall grass with no decoys. As long as you know how to blow a call and keep them interested they look for the sound. Be positive about it i'm sure it will work out.

I can call some specs... thats not the problem. its the nut jobs around us haha. gueydan is sooooooooo thick with specs right now. every 10 min i looked up there was a flock above us. glorious.

i know!!! I think it's gonna be a great opener for us in grand chenier if the birds stick around.

Gonna be great. Can't wait to get down to the marsh. Finishing my timber hole today.

Has anybody seen any snows and blues yet? I figured with all that snow up north they would've started migrating.
