Choupique Bayou

I took a boat to Choupique Bayou for the first time in several years to test run it. I was surprised to see all of the dead cypress trees. What happened? They have been dead awhile because the bark is already peeling off.

This is just a guess but I'd say maybe it's due to the dry summers letting the salt water creep further inland than normal.

I agree

Yep. I've watched it deteriorate over the years. Choupique Bayou was once great bass fishing down where all the marshes drain. But, saltwater has crept in and more often than not is brackish to salt.
