Lost lease

Got word yesterday that we were out bid and lost our lease. I know there are a few other guys on this site that had blinds on that property as well. It was nice while it lasted fellas. Thanks again BigHutch for last season, a lot of memories made. Yall scoot over on the public land, coming in hot.

Crawl79 08-12-2015 09:21 AM

Sorry to hear that. Good luck on public land and hopefully everyone there will treat you as you treat them.

The lease price jumped 4 and 5 times of the previous bids for the school board. Prices are getting stupid. Some of the places can only support 4 blinds max and the bids are over $30,000!

Must have lions on that property.

Two went for 35K one went for 55K. Wow.

Getting a non-resident TX & KS license also. A few lakes in TX I used to do well on, and my little brother just moved to KS on a baseball scholarship so I have a place to crash and someone to scout before hand. It'll be a learning experience for sure. Been a while since I actually had to scout and work for em.

Around 640. I will be the first to admit I bid on one of them and thought I bid a crazy amount. Not crazy enough, lol

I am surprised Vermillion Crop does not start doing this (seal bid) for all their Pecan Island leases...

I hunt KS for turkey. Allot of WIHA property to hunt. See a bunch of ducks there in spring and non of the locals have ever eaten a duck much less hunted one...

After hearing what sections went for Monday at the bid I can pretty much close the casket on me leasing any marshes around SWLA for a long time. Increases 2,3 and 4xs since last time it was available. Over it!

Got some blinds near Monroe that go for $15k and you will be 1/4 mile from another blind. Waiting list to get in also. Used to be decent hunting now blinds are too close and its a garhole. Landowner has a nice blind way away from any other ones thoigh:grinpimp:

It's odd how different things are in the midwest for ducks and geese. I was working in Wyoming a few years ago and we had no problems asking landowners for permission to duck and goose hunt... no one tried to charge us and everyone we asked said yes.

They were not as friendly when asked about antelope and deer hunting... haha.

Yea they like their pheasants too. I've got the little bro collecting names and addresses of well known land owners around his area as we speak. A ton of public land up there also. Gotta step my thermal underwear game up though

Always bring seafood. Nothing like sweetening a deal for them northers like some fresh shrimp. A guy I was talking to says a land owner calls and asks him to come back every year just to get some seafood.
