shimano reels garbage

Anybody what i can do about my stupid shimano reels?
Two curados, one chronarch - bout 8 years old or so.
They just cant cast half as far as they used to. Like there's something in the way of the spool i can kinda feel when reeling..

Ive done everything I know how to do, sent them to some idiot "reel guy" in shreveport, and even sent them to shimano... nothing has worked.

Any ideas? About to throw them in the trash

When is the last time you removed the bearings from the sides and cleaned them?
Take them out, soak in acetone, soak in alcohol, re lube them and try. Could need new bearings if you damaged them.

Switch to Lews. I sold all 5 of my curado E's several years back. Only changed one Pawl since and I fish a lot.

i've got at least 11(i think) shimano's. citicas, curados and chronarchs. all over 15 yrs old. i go thru them once a year. in my opinion they're the best product on the market. i wish i was closer to you, i'd like to take a look at those reels. i bet i can make em sing. someone on here close to you should fix you up. if not, let me know what you want for em.

I live in Broussard and clean reels as a hobby. If you're going to throw them away, why not give me a shot? If nothing else, I can use them for parts if there are too many problems that might be too expensive to fix. BTW, I love Shimano reels.

An old broke Shimano is better than a new Lews.

Check the brakes, make sure they are all in the same position. You can look it up on YouTube.

If you decide to throw em away, lemme know where you throw em

I switched to spinning reels for tha bay a long time ago, a lot easier to cast a mile.

I use them cheap h2o mettle reels for freshwater. they are a shimano copy and work great for a lot less money.
